California is about to undergo a name change. To: Sequoia School.



WHY? Because Thomas Jefferson owned slaves.

Becuase I am certain that if Mark McGwire or Nolan Ryan or Randy Johnson did that they would have faced such scrutiny and bashing they couldn't have been able to stand it.

Why does this NOT surprise me one little bit?! I mean, even Noddy books were banned over here because they used to say `golliwog` -even though the toy was CALLED a golliwog!

In fact (and forgive me if I`ve already told this true story on another notice board) but jobs at a local council are actually advertised with the skill / talent factor SECOND in the list of priorities (I kid you not!), eg, Vacancy for , say, an air traffic controller:

1. To be aware of anti-discrimination issues and to demonstrate clear ability in treating all staff and customers as equals regardless of their political leanings, sex, sexual orientation, disability or health problems, age, etc etc

2.

2. To have experience in the field of air traffic controller [/B] (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

don`t know about the rest of you but I wouldn`t give a toss how the employee felt about criteria 1 if I was in an aircraft being called in to land by him/ her, but I sure as hell would worry if he wasn`t up to criteria 2. Unbelievable!!!

Sorry if that was over the top. I come from the deep south in the US, and have fought the idea of race since I became aware of my own bigotry.

Bioligically speaking, is it possible to categorize us humans along the lines of DNA (bone structure, color, etc.) even though we can breed and produce offspring that can reproduce (unlike a horse and donkey, understand?)
