My son generously scanned some historical postcards and e-mailed them to me. I downloaded them to my hard drive.

I plan to post them on an historical FB group.

The problem is that when I view them in Windows Live Photo Gallery, every one of them is upside down and the facility to rotate them is not there.

I'd look a little foolish posting them all like that.

What operating system are you running?

You should see an option in the picture viewer to open into a picture manager, which will give you an option to rotate the pics.

There's a utility called IrfanView that will bulk rotate them (and resize them etc) or you can do it picture by picture using Paint.

Running windows 7 and the edit button does nothing. The rotate facility is greyed out

Try the CTRL . as Chloe suggested.

Hold CTRL key, press . or , and the pic should rotate 90 degrees.

If not you may be in "Read Only" mode.

I have no familiarity with Windows Live Photo Gallery, so not much help there.

But if you use the file explorer

And this assumes the pictures are downloaded to your computer, and you are in the directory you saved them to,

add preview pane by clicking the preview button (Circled)

Then you should be able to select the picture and select the arrow next to preview. (Bracketed on upper left) and select Microsoft

You should have option of Microsoft Picture Manager. Once you select that, you should be able to rotate the pics.

Of course by the time you read this you may have already done it with the tool Bryn suggested. Let us know how that works for you.
