Today ( Sunday ) we spent the day at a large car boot/ Market.
By 10 am the sun was beating down so hundreds of people are milling about all dressed In shorts, vests, backless dresses, some even barefoot etc. Some barely decent.
In the middle of the thong was a couple, I'd say In their mid 70's. She was dressed In a smart frock but her husband donned a suit, crisp blue shirt, tie and highly polished shoe's with a trilby hat. Due to the crowd, we accidently bumped him and when I offered my apology, he doffed his hat to me.
We got chatting and I told them how wonderful It was to see that standard of dress on a Sunday and he reminded me of my Father who always dressed like that In public whatever the day. His wife said he wouldn't even mow the lawn without wearing smart clean clothes.
Here's the thing... there's people walking around barely dressed and they are looking at him like he's the weird guy at the party.
Oh how times have changed !!!!

A Freudian Typo?
As for decency - times are constantly changing. Don't forget that in Victorian time it was considered indecent to show a bare ankle.
Personally, as a Naturist myself, I see nothing wrong with the naked body and, if anything, find the standard code of 'decency' more puzzling still - especially when it comes to legal definitions. After all, why should wearing something that is little more than an Elastoplast be considered as 'clothed', when it conceals nothing.

Maybe the the sight of that guy In his 60's wearing nothing but a yellow thong and a pair of flip flops had cemented In my unconscious far more than I realised... on that occassion It was like watching a condom full of walnuts strut by.
By Co-Incidence, late last night I watched ' Bottom' before going to bed and It was the episode where they were going on holiday. Ade was removing a yellow thong from Rik Mayall with a blow torch.
I myself have no problem with today's dress but It wasn't just about dress per say but the effort gone In behind this chap looking so smart... the care In his appearance.
We do except the naked body far more these days as did my husband yesterday when an extremely large woman flopped out a booby doo and began breast feeding a child who had to be at least 4 years old.

I have a comic photo in my archives that demonstrates the subject quite well. I'd post it here, but it probably wouldn't be deemed appropriate.
If you think that breast feeding a 4 year old is something, what about the case in the news a couple of years about the woman who went up to the school each day to breast feed her 6 year old son through the school railings?
As a rule I'm all in favour of breast feeding, where possible, but even so, there are limits.

There's been a few In the news recently... another one.
Mom Still Breast-Feeds 8-Year-old Son - ABC News
I think I was around 3 years old when I sternly told my Mother who'd lick a hanky and wipe my face ' Just stop that now'.
