An astonishing career has come to an end. Britain never had anyone else of his versatility, he was a joy to watch when acting and the films he directed were superlatives the sheer scale of which would be difficult to repeat. There are so many aspects of Gandhi, for example, from the cast he gathered and the performances he brought out, the photography, it's an unparalleled film.

If there's a just reward to have gone to, Richard Attenborough just went to it. What a guy.

He was one of the very few that I don't know of anyone who has anything bad to say about him.
