Me too. It's unbelievable to watch him play. He looks like he's not even working hard to get those fingers flying. As soon as you hear it you know it's him. No one else can play like that. :guitarist

I believe he was one of the very first musicians to 'multi-track' and that is how he produced such a unique sound. Many people were rather scathing and accused him of cheating ! Strange how 'multi-tracking' became the 'norm' in the recording studio during the following few years ! Regardless of his success at achieving his Les Paul unique sound, he was a remarkable musician ! By the way, you will notice from the vocal recordings by Mary Ford, that her vocals were multi-tracked too. Les Paul was well ahead of his time.

I remember buying a '45' by a group called The Stray Cats. The bass player would leap on the shoulders of his double bass balancing while thumping out an insistent beat to a good old rock-and-roll tune. Stray Cats only played rock-and-roll and they were brilliant ! In this video, I believe it was dated 1988, they were at a Les Paul Appreciation Concert where an awful lot of top class guitarists played as guests, including the great Les Paul. That was 27 years ago. Quite likely many of those guesting will now have gone.

He was the acclaimed innovator I think. The Paulverizer:

Some splitting chords there! Have to say that when BB Kings starts a-lickin' there's no mistaking it's him!
