I got rearended today on the way home from work. It felt like bumper cars.
My Honda (CRV) has one scratch on the bumper. The poor lady driving an i-don't-know-what had the hood of her car totalled. Not scrunched up but at least five Major dents in the front. I actually chuckled when I compared the two vehicles. I felt so bad for her I assured her that there looked to be nothing wrong with my car and she probably just had to deal with her own damage. I got her numbers and info in case I can't move when I wake up in the morning but don't think it will be a problem.
I'm still kind of in wonder that I took so little damage when her little sporty car was so devastated. Hooray for Hondas!!!
Anyone know a good cure for minor whiplash?

Anyone know a good cure for minor whiplash?Hope your neck's ok today,
The same thing happened to me last year, leaving me with a little scratch on my bumper.
The young guy that was driving looked petrified, i felt so sorry for him & told him to forget it, no harm done.
My back & neck was bad for a month afterwards, i did'nt regret not suing for whiplash though.
I just hope that if i have a minor prang the other driver will look kindly on me, and take pity on me!
Some hope i know, but hey you never know.

I thought headrests were enough for that sort of thing? I hope you're OK, Koan, necks can take for ever to stop worrying about.

The lady decided to report the accident herself. I guess the damage to her own care made it worth the claim on her insurance. We are both "Gold Star" with ICBC so neither one of us would take a raise in premiums with the claim. I don't think it affects mine anyway since it was her fault and I don't believe she is contesting that. I'm somewhat relieved that I don't have to worry about making the choice. I was not going to claim anything unless major problems became apparent.
My theory is that there is a percentage chance of getting in car accidents. Everytime there is some kind of minor ding to my fender or something like this I am relieved that my "share" of accidents has not resulted in any serious injury. I should be accident free again for another few years at least. So, in a way, I am quite thankful for the accident...that it was minor and no one was hurt.

don't know about Canada but in the UK if someone runs in to the back of you it is their fault reagrdless of why you stopped.

This is my first reportable accident. They have something called "no fault insurance" here. I've heard it means that each driver shares a percentage of blame and the adjusters determine where the percentages are. In this case I can't imagine they would say I had any percentage. I was stopped for about a minute waiting for a break in traffic...I think the lady was watching for one too and forgot I was there. There are a lot of accidents at that merge point. We both decided to recommend a merge lane to the city through ICBC, if we can. She said she saw another car do the exact same thing at the same spot only a few hours later when she was driving back.

Yikes!

How do you get the lanky frame of yours into that little car?!
I felt so bad for her I assured her that there looked to be nothing wrong with my car and she probably just had to deal with her own damage.
Not to be mean, Koan, but juswt by looking you can't always tell damage. If the frame is out of alignment, your car will start pulling to the side and eating tires at an alarming rate. Also drivetrain damage can cause the driveshaft bearings to come apart.
I got her numbers and info in case I can't move when I wake up in the morning but don't think it will be a problem.
and that's another point, you can't tell the damage to yourself. Shocka nd adrenaline will give you a feeling of euphoria for a while until they wear off. My friend had a little fender bender and bumped his head on the window, he felt fine...but later his memory started to go bad. Turned out he had brain damage.

I love 'em. I got my wife an Acura S-type, it totally rocks!
Anyone know a good cure for minor whiplash?
Sure do! It's an oldie but a goodie! Just go to your local Wal-mart and get a craton of "Epsom Salts" then take a long soaking bath in them. They cure minor bruising, restore circulation, kill skin infections and basically make you feel good all over!

Here in California, that little accident could net you between $5,000 to $50,000 in an out of court settlement for a whiplash injury. Actually going to court could net you more. It's a litigious state of affairs.

I left work at lunch today. My eardrums feel swollen and I have a bit of a headache so I'm going to the doctor. Had a closer look at my car and the damage looks like it might be greater than I thought so I'm glad I'm taking it in.
You all better hope it's not too bad because if I have to stay home a few days you won't be able to get me out of the Garden until I'm better again. The board will be full of me, me, me. :wah:

No one donates a Honda. Resale value is too high. (Unless the damage is over $2000)
I went to the doctor. Good news! I get twelve free massages, courtesy of ICBC. My car is making awful noises. I think it wants a massage too. We'll see what the mechanics say. The exhaust pipe was squished into the muffler and the muffler is pressing against the underbody of the car so it vibrates when I brake.
My intial chuckles are turning into a ...what was I chuckling about? oh, yeah.
A little spacey. I almost feel like milking this for sympathy but know I'm really lucky it wasn't worse.
my lord. the typos I had to correct...
