So we Americans seem to be grossly misinformed on a myriad of details.
How Americans fare on the ignorance index | Data Dive
Do you think you’re better informed than your fellow countrypeople? Take the perils of perception quiz and find out how you stack up across a range of issues.
I got 7 of 9 on the US. I retook it for the UK and got 8/9
Apparently I am smarter that the average 'Merican.
My wife would probably argue that point.

Results are in before I even saw where to take part of the survey.
As far as being ignorant, just look at the White House.

Hmm,
I would find it interesting to partake in that quiz.
Doesn't matter.
Looking at the results as presented, pretty much useless.

Look again. That was an 'r' ,not an 'x'
My wife's family would make a Pinata out of me, if I said that.

I got an 8/9 for the US. I haven't dared try any other country yet. I guess I'm almost qualified to be a 'Murican.

Point out to her - as I do mine- that you can't be that stupid look who you had the sense to marry. On the other hand how desperate was she?

According to the article, you're over-qualified.

The point of the article is that most of us tend to buy into all the hype we get from "The Media" rather than follow the facts.
Example.
The unemployment rate is published monthly.
Of course there is room for argument on that one, as the stats, as published, are based upon the number of people who file with the government employment offices for unemployment benefits, and register to look for work through state/federal employment office.
Most of the other statistics used in the survey are also easily acquired, even though media outlets will blast us with their own versions of the data.

I will be so glad when this election is over. The BS some of the candidates are spewing is amazingly ignorant (or purposefully false). I was hearing last night that the crime rate is at an all time high and Obama is setting new records each year for deficit spending, etc. etc. The media host was just nodding as if any of it were true.
It is rather sad how much more accurate the information about the US is on foreign media than our own.

Our "Journalists" have become little more than professional rumor-mongers.
