its not very often i post a bit of good news here on the FG but this one i just could not sit on untill sunday so deciding to break my 3x weekly column

i had to share this with you.

Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe was last night reported to be at death's door after a series of health problems including a heart attack.

The 68-year-old serial killer, who murdered 13 women and tried to kill seven more, is said to be suffering a severe cough and struggling to eat and sleep at Broadmoor.

A source said: 'If he doesn't improve, he's not got long left'.

Sutcliffe was given 20 life sentences in 1981 for his killing spree between 1975 and 1980 The killer used weapons including a hammer, screwdriver and knives to mutilate women across the north of England.

Sutcliffe, who believed he was on a 'mission from God' to kill sex workers, has now been locked up at the maximum security psychiatric hospital in Berkshire for 30 years He made a bid for freedom in 2010 but a judge ruled he should never be released and should die in custody.

Sutcliffe suffers from diabetes and his health started to deteriorate last year when he went to another hospital for a hernia operation.

He then suffered a heart attack due to the stress of the procedure, The Sun reported last night.

A source said the killer was now angry at Broadmoor staff as he had been waiting nearly two months to see a specialist about a hacking cough.

The unnamed source said: 'He's in a bad way due to this cough. It's extremely severe. He's having difficulty eating and sleeping, and if they don't do something about the cough, it could bring another heart attack.

'He knows that not taking his medication will cause his blood pressure to go up and he knows how dangerous that is. He's said I'm not well, I'm not good at the moment. He's complained dreadfully about things. He thinks they are just not bothered.'

The paper also said Sutcliffe had told a friend: 'Everything is being a struggle, even writing letters has been a big battle – everything's one big effort.

'The situation is bad. I have refused my medication yesterday and today.'

And speaking about his cough, the murderer said: 'It's doing me a lot of harm. My chest aches, it's no good for my heart with the angina, you know. When I am coughing, I'm not eating. It's horrible.'

A television documentary on the secure hospital was broadcast on Wednesday night, but paranoid schizophrenic Sutcliffe had declined to be involved.

The Sun's source also said Sutcliffe was staying in an individual room with a bed, access to email, a TV and desk he uses to write to penpals.

The source said: 'He gets at least 30 letters per week and has lots of visitors.'

It was also reported that Sutcliffe was now a Jehovah's Witness. The source said: 'He thinks that Armageddon will come and one day we will all live on paradise on Earth 'He also thinks that when he dies all will be forgiven because he has faith and belief.'

A hospital spokesman said: 'Broadmoor Hospital will not comment on any matter that would breach our duty to maintain patient confidentiality.'

you have only to read the words from sutcliffe to know he,s still off his trolley even though he,s turned into a JW which i believe is an american religion he believes he can be forgiven for what he,s done.

the judge back in 2010 made the right decision to keep sutcliffe locked away behind the walls of broadmoor.

now 30 years on it seems sutcliffe will finally get whats coming to him

not so many years ago you would have quite rightly been shaking hands with albert pirepoint but when you recieved your 20 life sentences the do gooders stepped in and kept you away from mainstream prisons and put you in a cushy hospital instead by the way did anyone watch broadmoor ? my answer for the most dangerous of them would be the rope and the money saved could be directed back into the nhs hospitals and most needy of our society but thats another column.

so good bye peter dont think you,ll be missed because you wont and the other monsters like mr X and hissing sidney cooke will be following you shortly.

Why so much press coverage ? The most fitting end's for the dregs such as him would be for him to bow out of this world with not one person even mentioning his name... because I bet most people can't remember the names of the women he killed.

Why the British Tax Payer has to keep his like In the comfort of secure units for the rest of their days Is beyond me when you can buy a rope In hardware stores for just a few quid.

Because....................................he is a human being ?

At least Ian Huntley wants to be transferred to a mainstream prison (where it's unlikely he would last long once the other prisoners got hold of him).

So, if we kill a murderer, are we too guilty of murder? This is a genuine enquiry and I'd like to hear what people think about it.

I'll give an example of why I support the death penalty.

In America, two men who were Burglers, got Into an apartment block. Their only desire at the time was to rob. They were disturbed when the tenant and 3 of his pals returned. The two robbers armed with guns, could have fled but didn't. They decided to have some fun. First raping the two women at gunpoint. They were not satisfied with that. They then forced to 4 to perform sex acts on each other at gun point.

They could still have fled the scene but no, they bundled the 4 Into a car and drove them to an Isolated football field where they forced them to kneel and shot them all In the head execution style.

All 4 were only In their twenties.

One young girl must have had an angel standing over her right then because her bullet hit her metal hair clip on the back of her head and deflected. As the other 3 slimped forward, she played dead, mimicking their stance.

The two men could have been satisfied with that but no... they got Into their 4 X 4 and ran over the four victims just for good measure.

After they were gone, the girl who played dead crawled with extensive Injuries, Internal bleeding and multiple fractures for a mile across fields and collapsed on the doorstep of a house.

She survived and her evidence saw the men caught and given the death penalty.... they are now on death row appealing to save their own lives...

I ask this... If one of those 4 young people were your son or daughter... would you care about their rights as a human being ?

Maybe not........but I doubt if I will get a place on the jury.........and thats how justice is supposed to work.

I can't imagine how I'd feel if a loved one was murdered, and I hope I never find out. And I can understand why victims' families might call for the death penalty. Thats as far as my understanding goes, at the moment

Would I want to watch these people die ? Absolutely. They forego their rights as human beings.

There are also, of course, different legal & moral degrees of what classes as Murder. The obvious definition, of course, being that of pre-meditation - to plan in advance to go out with the intention to kill someone is clearly murder in the 1st degree. But then there's Murder of opportunity - such as an armed robbery going wrong, where the teller, for example, refuses to yield to threats, and the gunman panics & fires - or shoots in an effort to escape, where he had originally only planned to use the gun for show. Then there are the ones who really do have mental issues, such as the kids who suddenly flip & massacre kids in a playground (usually before killing themselves, or being killed). Surely someone in this sort of state of mind can't be considered as sane? Then there are those who truly believe that they are being instructed by God, due to some genuine mental disorder. Once again, are these people to be held responsible?

The point is that there is a massive sliding scale of what is justifiable & what is not. As with many things, the real question lies in where you draw the line. Murder, when the motive is greed, is a cut & dried case, but I imagine the clear cut cases only account for a small minority.

Peter Sutcliffe fitted the typical profile of a psycho who's driven to kill, but deep in his subconcious he also had the urge to be caught, which is why he kept recording the clues that eventually led to his capture. Evil or Insane? I'm certainly not qualified to answer.

I would be all in favour of Capital Punishment for the cut & dried Greed type cases, but when it gets into the greyer regions of Mental Health, I wouldn't be so certain.

Grabbing someone's collar Is a world away from rape, torture, kidnap and murder. That Is what I define as evil. If you kill for no other reason than fun, then you forego your human rights. You'd think very differently If one of those victims was your daughter,

I'm sure mankind can make anything as complicated as possible, with different levels of legalities and morality.

To me it is very simple.

Life is sacrosanct.

Whoever takes another's life is wrong, no argument what reasons are involved.

It's not ALL about you and your exploits.

I am referring to your support for the purchase of rope to hang until they die another human being.

Mr Grumpybum opened this thread along the lines of " Here is some good news to celebrate" .........he is talking of an elderly mental patient and his failing health.

Hope he doesn't have a whinge about the quality of the NHS's support for mental health issues anytime soon, else I may have to remind him of his jubilation at the demise of another person in need of care.
