Have you ever or known anyone else who tried calling your bluff only to get a massive back fire ?
Well, I have had a nightmare of a week.
Someone In the Party thought that I as a mere silly woman could not possibly do my job In the Party and did everything to undermine me. As I am not a dictator, I have spent a week with this person doing everything I could to make him understand that we do not pander to one person and Ignore the wishes of all other members and activists. Dear God, no-one could have tried harder to resolve the Issue than me.
I didn't want to lose him. A long standing member, an elected Councilor for the Party and he held a position for many, many years. He was highly respected by all and a well known face In the Party.
Nothing worked, It was like banging my head against a brick wall.
Two nights ago, I get an e mail threatening to resign. This I noted was sent also to two of my superiors and the Leader of the Party.
I wrote back basically telling him that I don't pander to threats. So yesterday the Chairman and my superiors got his resignation letter and we are certain, he believed they would all back him over me.
Today, I get 3 e mails sent on that were their replies to him from all 3 superiors.
Very short e mails along the lines of ' dear so and so'. Thankyou for all your service to the Party and we wish you every success In the future. I accept your resignation.
All three of them !!!!
Massive back fire... why oh why do people do this kind of thing ?

Be fair - not once did she mention the BNP - she could have been talking about the arrangements for her Christmas Party.

Seriously, I ask, why are people In general, nothing to do with the Party but people In general like this. What happened this week Is merely an example.
Do they believe they are so Irreplacable ? Myself, I'd never call a double bluff with anyone as they do backfire.

Something similar once. Back in the days when I was working as a Sous Chef at a hotel near Atlanta, we hired another guy who claimed a degree from the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) to be be First Cook, and report directly to me.
Since I had no degree, I was obviously inferior to him, and he continuously reminded me - along with the rest of the kitchen staff - of that fact. I tried very hard to work with him, but he constantly tried to subvert my authority with the staff. He screwed up a banquet, the first time I let him run one on his own, and tried to put the blame on me. Then when I confronted him in the Chef's office he threw a small fit, and told the chef that either I go or he would. Chef asked me to go and get the staff to preparing a banquet we had scheduled, while he talked to the guy in private. About half an hour later, a Dishwasher that was reporting for work said that he saw the guy clearing out his locker.
A week later, the Chef offered me a substantial raise, and brought in an apprentice to help me cover the First Cook Duties. When I left a couple of years later that former Apprentice took my job. As for the CIA grad, I saw him later cooking in a diner in Macon.

That's exactly the thing that was happening to me. One guy calling all the shots yet blaming failures on others. My position was actually far senior to his but he felt because he was a Councillor, I knew nothing, Like you he undermined me every day and I tried everything to work with him but the truth was, he looked down on me.
For weeks he obstructed me and tried over-ruling me. Why I finally had enough and took charge pulling rank, that's when the bluff came.
Imagine how you'd feel If every day In your position and duties you got the final e mail with the same thing said over and over... " Oh well, If you think you know what you're doing, then do It but I am just trying to point out that you haven't organised things properly "... Put down every day.
I was almost gleeful at seeing the bluff backfire

Very nearly on topic, and talking to LarsMac mainly.........
I went for and got the job but during the interview the manager who was hiring me was going through what he required of me,he said he wanted an all rounder.
So I said "You want a commis tournant?"
I shouldn't have bothered, because it was obvious he hadn't a clue what I was on about........I lasted a couple of months, before somebody with more BS than the resident Chef who was on sick leave managed to talk himself into that job.
Shortly after I found my very limited knowledge as an 18-19 year old was dangerous, and I too was given my marching orders.

Don't knock it at least she's not a tory, What I don't understand is why such an avowedl;y racist, mysoginistic party like UKIP gets so much creedence.
Neither party gets anywhere in scotland even if ukip did manage an MEP, he's an idiot. Alex salmond has gone as leader of the snp and been replaced by a more formidable debater, labour is on the ropes waiting for a knockout.

The backfire got worse today for the Idiot who called the bluff. He was Instructed this morning to hand over over all accounts and banking books to me along with every scrap of paperwork he held In his position. Now, stripped of everything and lost every bit of respect and standing he had In the Party.
What utter madness... just because he didn't get his own way.

Once someone gets too big for their boots and thinks they are a maverick, they're gone and forgotten. Play by the family rule. I put my members before the wishes of one person. That's how It works.
