I decided to give Wilson Energy another phone call during my dinner break this afternoon, seeing as my Mobix Meter was still not working, despite the engineer having been sent out a couple of weeks ago. The meter has never worked ever since it was installed, over a year ago. It's had other engineers out, none of which managed to get anywhere. It wasn't until this engineer tracked things down to very basics - the meter in the cupboard had the wrong number / didn't match the one they had on record, so what I've been charged for my energy wasn't my own.

Anyway, as soon as I identified myself on the phone, she said, "Oh, thanks for getting back to me". It turned out that she had left a message on my voicemail this morning, after I'd left for work. It turns out that the matter has been brought to the attention of the company Director & has finally been sorted. Furthermore, it seems he's talking about giving me some compensation for the inconvenience, considering how long it's been going on. There's not been any mention as to how much yet, but the way I see it is that I wasn't expecting anything, so whatever it is is a welcome Xmas bonus.

Mind you, I've just read my snail mail. I've just received a Notice of Seeking Posession from the Council for non payment of rent, to which I've sent a formal complaint, in no uncertain terms.

You may remember that when I started this job at the end of September, I was awarded Discretionary Extended Housing Benefit until 3rd Nov. At which point I was under the impression that I had a Direct Debit already set up, and was surprised that it hadn't yet shown a payment as having been taken, so I just assumed it would be taken at the end of the month. I then received a notice of being in arrears. Obviously, because of the brief period (3 weeks) this is a bit of a knee jerk reaction, although a more courteous reminder wouldn't have been a problem. Anyway, upon receiving it last week I made immediate efforts to pay the arrears & set up a new Direct Debit, although I couldn't find the reference number required to make the payment, and none of the communications quoted it - I had to specifically ask for it. Once I got it I went straight online & made a payment to clear it all (for which I have an emailed receipt). I have now received a notification of Notice of Seeking Repossession, dated AFTER I made the payment in full (25/11/14).

I've never questioned the fact that the amount was outstanding, but I had made every effort to pay it off as soon as I knew it was owing, but this is rent that has only been accruing since 3/11/14. When it comes to habitual Rent Dodgers, then I agree that something has to be done, but action such as this, threatening to evict me if I don't pay within 7 days, plus being landed with a minimum of £250 court costs for the sake of 3 weeks rent arrears is, in my opinion, totally out of order, for which reason I have registered a formal complaint.

However, to be honest, I don't really expect anything more than a standard, meaningless form letter of apology (ie "Dear Sir, Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Yours faithfully"), at best - and even then it'll probably go on to say something like "To avoid any further problems, please ensure that your account is kept clear at all times".

Ho hum. Ah, well - payday tomorrow - or today, to be more precise - I really must get to bed - early start in the morning & it's past my bedtime.

I would guess you have become victim of the standard big hammer, that presumably has become the first course of action in these hard times.

It is the equivalent of the warning letter of a few years ago, pay them and it will be all good.

I think we are getting to know everything about you..........whats next ? Your inside leg measurement, which side you 'dress' ?
I thought I knew more than this until I opened my mouth

I phoned them from the office first thing this morning & had it confirmed that I had cleared my balance as well as having set up a Direct Debit. Apparently the Notice of Seeking Possession letters are generated automatically to anyone with over a £200 outstanding balance on the 25th of each month. I told them that they should, for a start off, reword the letter because, quite frankly, as it stands it is nothing less than intimidation and, as my college here said, if it was to be received by someone with a mental health issue, it could easily lead to a suicide through a simple misunderstanding. I also told them that they need to make sure of including reference numbers on their communications, plus give the option that when paying online that you can have the option of entering an account number OR an address. After all, what's the point of demanding immediate payment if they won't let you pay?
