Five of the world's largest banks are to pay fines totalling $5.7bn (£3.6bn) for charges including manipulating the foreign exchange market.

Four of the banks - JPMorgan, Barclays, Citigroup and RBS - have agreed to plead guilty to US criminal charges.

Strangely nobody goes to jail...................meanwhile.......knock over a few million from Hatton garden and they will be after you soon enough

"Strangely nobody goes to jail."

They would if they were poor and stole a loaf of bread. My mother used to say that.

How right she was.

Coincidentally, I wrote that post at (my time) 5:21 pm & tomorrow she should (but won't) be here to celebrate her 96th birthday. I'll light a candle. Guess she's saying 'Hi' as I found reason to quote her wisdom several times today.

Disgraceful, the top bankers are at it AGAIN. The real culprits get away with it, those that instigate it. If you were a high-flying city trader with a serious "boss" encouraging you, my guess is you wouldn't dare to say NO. That's probably part of the problem, plus the lure of "making a killing" for the bank and landing a BIG bonus.

I say find the "ring-leaders", whoever they are, and jail 'em!

Find them ? What do you mean ?

They are the people at the top........of the banks, if it were a railway that had caused tragic deaths, or a hotel chain with poor hygiene, or a.......you get my drift.....they would have been banged up long long ago.

These "ring-leaders" may not all be bankers, though. There are some seriously influential "money men" out there who have nothing to do with banking, but have HUGE investments with a particular bank, or banks. I would imagine that organized crime has not overlooked opportunities in this area, either.

Then the banks should be held responsible for being used illegally, it is them that publish the applicable rates.

I totally agree, Bruv. Any company "laundering" money or assets is vunerable to fines and/or custody for individuals connected with this, so why not bank bosses and city traders, who "fix" things illegally too?

The biggest crooks always wear suits and the poor have no lawyers, just look at who owns everything.
