This show would break a dozen laws in my country:

Is that supposed to be a TV program ? Making entertainment and profits from somebody's misery ? Is this anybody's business but the two main people's ? For Pity's sake has the human race sunk so low and finding that they have no more inspiration for a TV program, that company slide into the gutter and come up with this traumatic 'real life' harrowing stuff and call it entertainment ???? Jesus wept ! :-5

And very many more bad taste rules.

It's a reality TV series called “Cheaters and there's a ton of it on YouTube if you have the inclination. And as far as “Making entertainment and profits from somebody's misery goes ¦. that's all “reality TV is, really. What about “Britain has Talent?

Perhaps "Big Brother" or "Jeremy Kyle Show" would be better examples, rather than talent shows.

Well, one (if not both) of the examples I gave could have been avoided if the main theme would not seem to be to antagonise the contestants. I mean, there is a much easier "stage exit" of the talent contest than saying, "You're awful!" So, "Has talent" doesn't seem all that much different (to me) than having the remainder of the pack in a free-for-all dog fight deciding who should go next and why.

I really can't stand the Big Brother type programs, although I did watch BB when it first started on TV several years ago. But it seems to be slanted towards sex and how controversial the program can get, whilst humiliating the participants (I did have a quick peep when the last series started, and it was damn quick - revolting. Everybody showing off for the cameras etc). I think the 'talent' programs have had their day though, and the viewing public are getting bored !

"Bums on seats", love. Viewer ratings are all that matter to the sponsers. If the populace is frustrated - and it certainly is! - then they'll be wanting blood. I don't really think the public is bored with it, to be honest. Blood is what it wants, and blood is what it gets.

Many talent shows are 'car crash' TV.

They don't have to show the humiliating weirdo 'doing' his party piece or the fat lad who thinks he can dance because his grand ma thinks he is great.

They would normally be filtered out long before they get to TV.

The shows are like laughing at the mentally ill or physical infirmity.

I think the producers of all the above-mentioned shows confuse "cringe-worthy" for "note-worthy", then try to convince us it's what we want to see!

I have said for a long time, all those candid amateur video clip shows like 'You've been framed' will show a death or injury while we all laugh at it.

I'm thinking "Pulp Fiction". But as you say .... children falling off of their push bikes and hitting their head on the pavement already gets the "canned" laughter switched on. I hate this "America's Funniest Home Videos". I refuse to watch it.

You mean like those photos of the Nazi extermination camps, the "bullet to the head" of that Vietnamese man, and the footage of people jumping to their death on 7/11 that people can't help but to look at.

Such shows are repulsively pretentious in their motivation.

Not at all, they are very real.

Watching 'The Camps' has some educational purpose,the remembered 'head shot' and 'the jumpers' still makes me cringe.

I refuse to knowingly watch anything like that ever.

And I can only watch low life shows like Cheaters and X Factor to ridicule (I am far too polite to say take the pee out of them)

I watched part of that episode in the OP, but frankly, if I want to see that kind of drama, all I need to do is go visit some of my family members.

I noticed that many of these "cheaters" were in Dallas/Fort Worth and I wondered why. Now I know:
