I am so upset, I went on this church trip and it seemed like the whole time I was there people were trying to avoid me and exclude me. They moved when I would sit next to them or they would choose other spots over the one next to me. They also took pictures and tried to move their heads to block me out of the picture and when I saw a picture on FB of a group of people sitting eating lunch and I had been cut off except for my hand. Like they cut me out of the picture. Also I was in a room one night with one group of people but then because of a room mixup where we were double booked in our hotel, we had to switch rooms around. I was the only one out of my room asked to go to another room. Why me??

This sounds so, well, familiar.

It sounds like you really need to work on your social skills.

Sorry to have to mention this "jashley", but how often do you shower/bathe? Maybe it's a possible solution ? Just a thought, and maybe one that nobody else feels they can ask you.

Has the possibility of joining a different congregation occurred to you? Or a different denomination? Or a different religion?

I would ask them directly why they are behaving like this towards me. Then listen carefully to their answer(s). It's a starting point.

Why is this name (Jashley) familiar to me?

Probably because they have posted very similar items about once every couple of months for the last year, and then never joined in on any of the follow-up conversations.

Ahhh! Thanks for that, Lars. I knew the name was familiar.

I had an interesting experience. My grandmother was a staunch non-drinking fundamentalist. When she passed away my father looked after the funeral etc. Former problems with that church led us to leave and go elsewhere. At the reception there were tw distinct cams very visible. On the one side of the room were all of us heathens an on the other side were all the fundys. There was no contact between the groups. I intentionally crossed the floor and intentionally stared talking with them and moving around that side.. Incidentally my father would not have the minister of that particular church conduct the service. It was a mainline minister that did the service..

I forced them to speak with me a heathen or so they thought. LOL

How hypocritical of them! And pathetically narrow-minded. I thought that God's house was open to all, not just the 'right' clique.

I can see you've spent little time in Scotland.

That's true, though I love The Isle Of Skye, and know it well. I have quite a bit of Macdonald clan blood in me! I found the islanders very courteous and the soul of generosity, though I admit I know little of the rest of Scotland.

Jesus turned no one away who wanted to join and follow him regardless of who they were; tax collectors, prostitutes, sinners, average person. Obviously they weren't trying too hard to follow him when they turn their backs on someone who wants to fit in. It is interesting though that I saw the same thing in the fundamentalist church I was raised in. I have gone so far as to deem that church evil.

Apologies, but I'm just trying to cause certain threads to 'drop out of the bottom of the list' !

I admire your efforts, although the results are just temporary thank you for trying. Maybe when the weather gets worse I'll add a thread or two; as for now I'm mostly outside.

You make him sound like a politician campaigning for votes & funding.

He was very opposed to the Roman empire and the resulting oppression. He really was a subversive.
