I honestly thought this had been done before but I can`t find it on the search facility, so here goes.
What is your favourite alcoholic beverage, and why?
For me, it is cider. The reason I started drinking cider is that when I went on a `mystery tour` with my dad when I was about 12, they gave a prize to a special seat number - it was the empty seat next to me (I don`t know if this was deliberate!) so I moved into it to get the prize for my dad. Then on my first trip to the pub, I remembered this so I just asked for `Cider, please` - and have been enjoying it since!!!

My fav drink is Vodka & Red Bull, vodka because it has very little taste or smell and red bull keeps me awake and gives me lots of energy to dance the night away. :yh_giggle

I can't honestly say that I have a favorite Tipple, but on a hot humid day, after a round of golf, give me a Gin & Tonic. After a swim on a hot day, give me a Heiniken's. On a cold blustery evening, sitting by the fire, give me a cognac or brandy. Give me a decent Merlot with my steak and a good Sauvignon Blanc with my fish. And for just conversational chatting, give me J & B Scotch. There are times when I even enjoy a "Guiness" with my Kiwi friends and Pommy son-in-law.

I'm not a big drinker of alcohol. So when I do have an alcoholic beverage, I like it to be disguised. Like a "sissy" but I like it "Pinia Colada", or Harvey Walbanger, or Long Island Ice Tea. All go down real smooth & easy, but after "2" just try to stand up!! Very difficult!

Like Cars, I'm not a huge social drinker, but for me, on a hot summers day, it has to be Pimms.....with all the vegetation!! *hic*

Tipples. I think the word excludes wine, then. Wrong word for what one does with wine. Just picking a single tipple, it would have to be the whiskeys, there's so much subtle variation between them. Close, though, are the Polish vodkas, an amazing array of flavors rather than the subtlety of the malts but they brighten anyone's evening. You have the Liqueurs, from Krupnik with its honey base that often gets served hot to the plum Sliwowica or Wisniowka, ginger Imbirowa, orange and lemon Pomarancza and Cytrus, or grass-flavored Zubrowka. At the traditional end, there's still the different rye flavors of the Zytnia and Wyborowa. Actually finding a supplier might be the hardest part, if you're not in a town with a good Deli.
Why, though. The thread asks why. Besides the tastes? I had several trips to Poland in the seventies, I don't think you get much chance of learning about the national drinks without visiting. Once you get interested, as with anything else, you stick to it and expand what you know. That's as good a reason as I can focus on.

Well, cider can be pleasantly `flat` or more `frisky`, "mild" or "strong", `sweet` or `dry`. It`s fantastic! Scumpy does tend to be made in the west country, but yesterday I got some from Suffolk. Thanks for supporting me, Abbey!

Ahh...there was a time when I was young when I embarked on a crusade to taste every beer and wine in the world, but as I grew older, I stopped wasting exorbitant amounts of my salary on high-proced alcohol.....
Now it's just Bud Light and "Tequiza" for me.
Anybody here ever try Tequiza? It's a beer that also has a bit of lime and agave nectar in it. Very southwestern and very good!
