Surely if it were, this would have been a 'like' and 'share' thread to see how far Spot can travel round the net.

We used to have birthday threads all the time, ask Gill she'll remember :)

Oh yes, we used to go to town with fancy posts of birthday greetings. After all most birthdays are listed on the 'calendar' so a member's birthday shouldn't really be missed, unless of course a member hasn't entered their birthday date in their profile (like Mr. spot ) !

I always put the same birthday into every website I register with, except banks and HMRC. The First of January 1911. It's easy to remember, none of their business and knocking a few years off one's age is culturally acceptable. I also lie about whether I went to school and what my first pet's maiden name was.

Thank you for your good wishes Anne. I was under the impression that we English didn't do birthdays but I appear to be wrong.

That's not something I often get asked.

Last year I created a mental gymnasium to keep my brain exercised and I put in several hours at that. I have the advantage that I enjoy it and I'm still moderately good at it.

A few other hours went into developing the next generation, a duty and a privilege combined. It's something I know I could be better at but I'm practicing.

I have five books I must read by April, and one I must re-read and this time take notes. They - the notes - will be invaluable in a couple of months. Today involved tracking them - the five books - down and ordering them, they having been in the bibliography of a 24 page pamphlet someone sent me yesterday.

I cooked at some point and ate. I did assorted online housekeeping and tried yet again to find out how to automate encrypted piped backups into local European cloud storage without allowing closed-source packages onto my system, it's necessary I get that working eventually.

And I allowed a chap called David Eagleman to annoy me for the third time this month, something he never fails to do if only because of his slack diction. Often for far worse than that, but why he garbles his consonants I have no idea. He has excised the letter T from his alphabed and he inflicts the Kozmoze on his audience, he speaks the language of the Jibwoe, he exudes barbarism.

I believe my response provided the information Kathy had requested. If you feel I was imprecise or overly vague I could expand the detail.

The book titles, perhaps?

Title: A History of the Methodist Church in Great Britain (complete 4 volume set)

Author: Davies, Rupert; Rupp, Gordon & George, A. Raymond (eds.)

and

Richmond College 1843-1943: Forewords By Leslie F Church and Eric S Waterhouse

Author: Cumbers, Frank H (Ed.)

and the book I need to make notes from is The end of an epoch: Reflections on contemporary history by A. L Rowse.

It's his published essays from the thirties, predominantly on politics. I'll post extracts here if you'd enjoy reading one or two.

I've only re-opened the thread for bragging rights...

BBC Radio 4 - Incarnations: India in 50 Lives - Gandhi vs. Gandalf Quiz

9 out of 9, bang on.

This is the BBC "who said it" Gandhi vs Gandalf quiz which personally I reckon to be in extreme poor taste. 9 out of 9 though.
