Joshua Reape, eight, was sent home from his Birmingham school and told not to return for a week because of his "Peaky Blinders haircut", his mum says.
"His mum says", there is more to it than that I reckon.

I had to google it just to figure out what that meant. I had never heard of Peaky Blinders, let alone the haircut.
So, is that show that unpopular over there?

The lack of response from the school certainly seems suspicious. I have never heard of the show in question, and I would have simply thought the haircut to be perfectly reasonable. Just what was it about the haircut that did not fall in line with school policy?
I reckon someone's not telling the whole truth here.

I went through school with an identical haircut to that.

I am not familiar with the show either or whether the character with the haircut is a goody or a baddy, but unless the teachers are obsessive about the show, there is nothing about that haircut that could bar the boy from school.
I wonder if the haircut coincided with something else that happened, that is my guess anyway.

Now I've seen a photo of the child's hair I'll revise my statement. I went through school with far less hair on my forehead than that, and invariably more thinned out on top.

That seems to be totally unreasonable. Crazy!

Well the kid seemed to really like the Peaky Blinders reference. I know nothing of the show, other than the brief review on Netflix.
Seems to be one that glorifies a certain criminal element. IF the kid really made a point of the link his haircut had with the show, it may have caused some concern to the school staff. But if that is the case, their concern did not reach the mum.

Teachers nowadays don't know how lucky they are when I was at school you had the longhaired hippes, skinheads and then punk started. At least he didn't get a mohican and dye it red. Maybe he shluld have said he was emulating gibbs from NCIS.

I've never even heard of the show. To me it just looks like a perfectly respectable Short Back & Sides. Perhaps with it being a Catholic School he's expected to sport a Tonsure?

They may have banned Brilliantine. Or lard.
