A 101-year-old man has been jailed for 13 years for committing 30 child sex offences.
Wonder if he will get time off for good behaviour ?
I don't want to make light of it but is this appropriate for a 101 year old ?

He did the crime. Whatever age a person found guilty of a crime is, they should go to jail, if jail is the punishment. Why should guilty people escape punishment just because they are old ? It is probably a certainty that that old man will die in prison. I'm afraid I cannot find any sympathy for him, after what he has admitted to.

My first impression was how can a man of 101 be a threat to the public ?
I realise he needs to be punished, and after seeing him perambulating toward the court, my empathy toward an old man would appear misplaced.

He's admitted to 30, obviously those he still fantasizes about. A feeling of dread and life experience tells me he's done over a lot more.
**** im! No empathy or sympathy for someone who reaches a ripe old age whilst destroying others' lives. How many of his victims have died before him?
He hasnt 'admitted', he's bragging!

He got off easy. 13 years is nothing.
In this country, a 21 year old convicted of one sex crime, everywhere he moves for the rest of his life must register with the local police.
His/Her offense can be followed on the internet so anywhere they move the neighbors can fond out.
I wonder how British prisons are? From what I understand in our prisons sex offenders are held in low regard and regularly punked.

What does punked mean? Picked on? Our pedoes are normally segregated.
I dont think the registry is a just way of handling offenders . Unless murder or serious assault is involved. I think in years to come no body will even care whether someone is on a register. Down the track people will hear so many unjust circumstances that the whole idea will lose its weight in affectiveness.

Picked on, that is a nice way to put it. Segregated, smegrated. If I was in that position I would want isolation. Really, segregated with a bunch of other perves, cool.

What you think doesn't matter. Just the way it is. I know of one neighbor we had who did violently rape a 15-year-old girl. I know that because my Mrs keeps track of such things. When I was a truck driver had a codriver of 3 months fired for morals. I looked him up and was not shocked at what I had been riding with from some of the things he said.

Think what you want.
He was convicted of crimes he committed between the ages of 59 and 68 years old. Not a kid.
I suspect he has a long history of nastiness.

It's on an island in a bay to deter escapes, rather like your Alcatraz used to be.
