We would do well to remember those less fortunate than ourselves - the friendless, those who will be alone this festive season, pining for a kind word but knowing the hopelessness of it all. It's not easy being Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition.







eta: The correct and essential response to that greeting, should anyone not know, is "God save you kindly".

It can be found, for example, in the 1879 novel Knocknagow, or the Homes of Tipperary by Charles Kickham, which is perhaps remembered more for its dedication:

"I dedicate this Book about the homes of Tipperary to my little nieces, Annie and Josie, with many regrets and apologies that in spite of all their entreaties I was obliged to let poor Norah Lahy die".

Merry and Happy, Happy to everyone! On a cruise back from Hawaii 4 years ago I heard this:

Boo Hoo, I haven't any sound on my laptop, at the moment, so can't hear it. I shall have to try to remember to check it out when I get something sorted with regard to my laptop. It is possibly only a 'dry joint', but it will have to wait until the New Year before I can get it checked out.

We are expecting a White Christmas, today.

The Mountains are obscured by a snowy haze, and the Sun is a slightly bright spot in the overcast sky.

My friends in Estes Park (about 20 miles from here) are reporting 3 inches of snow on the ground.

We had a beautiful perfect summer christmas. No wind with the heat just a lovely breeze. Defo an outdoor day yesterday. Laid around the verandah and drank and ate all day.

One of the hottest Christmas days on record here, a balmy thirteen degrees

My Xmas Dinner comprised of sending out for Pizza (yes, there actually were some open & delivering on Xmas Day). As for spending time eating & drinking with friends & family - not much of that when you don't have any friends or family.

I hate Christmas.

I spent Christmas alone and was okay with it. I do hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

I have been off since the 23rd of Dec. and I don't go back to work until Jan. 3rd.

I am enjoying my "staycation" as much as possible!
