Rick Parfitt was one of rock's most recognisable guitarists has died.
Not sophisticated, not very clever, but great music.

The Quo were known as the 3 chord rock band when they first hit the charts, but over the years they became very well respected and popular in all the countries they played in.
I will always remember them being the opening band for the live Band Aid concert, organised by Bob Geldof, on the strength of an amazingly successful fundraising single that raised over $10 milliion for Ethiopia in 1984.
The Live Aid Concert at Wembley Stadium in 1985, along with a similar open air concert in America was watched in 110 countries by over 1 billion viewers. So I suppose that must have been just about the largest crowd to hear and see Status Quo n one single concert !!!!
But the band that stole the whole show, certainly in London, was Queen, IMO. I have the whole of the London Band Aid Concert on video and cassette tapes !
