Too bad jeremy hunt helped write a book on how to privarise the nhs
https://whatwouldvirchowdo.wordpress.co ... e-the-nhs/
Our ambition should be to break down the barriers between private and public provision, in effect DENATIONALISING the provision of health care in Britain, so extending to all the choices currently available only to the minority who opt for private provision.
The problem we have is electing a political party that is idealogically opposed to any kind of policy that smacks remotely of socialism compounded by new labour un dar blair becomng tory light. They have destroyed our economy and are taking us back to a non existent iolden age that never was. I just wish people would waken up and start voting before it is too late.

so extending to all who can afford them the choices currently available only to the minority who opt for private provision (my amendment in bold)
The inevitable consequence is that people fall off the bottom end.
Until we know what we're dealing with after brexit we don't know if we can afford an NHS or not. There are a lot of right wing brexit tories who see this as their chance to "have a national debate" about the future of the NHS: code for privatise it, and given we now can't recruit enough nurses because they aren't applying from the EU in anything like the numbers they did and the gov't has cut funding for training our own nurses, I think privatisation is already being slid in by the back door, under Hunt.

The crowd: "Yes! We are all individuals!"
Lone voice: "I'm not."
Lone voice: "I'm not."

It most certainly is being privatised by the back door. What we have is a political party ideologically oopsed to the very idea of socialised healthcare avaiulable to all. It's not a debate about whether we can or cannot afford it it's a debate about whether we should have it at all except those who are agin it know perfectly well if the question was put in those terms what the anmswer would be but that is what the issue really is. Whar single thing is more important than health or education? If we can afford aircraft carriers with no planes and trident submarines so our politicians can stay in a pissing contest with the US and russia then we can afford the NHS.
I would point out the nhs was started post war when the UK was bankrupt but it was seen as a priority so it went ahead. Only a complete idiot would want a privatised system like they have in the US. We were bankrupt when we went in to the common market which we joined on bended knees desperate to get in and we're going to be bankrupt when we leave.
Funnily enouygh you have tp look very hard for stephen hawkings comments being reported in the mainstream media it's a debate the tories would lose.

I couldn't believe it when Jeremy Hunt had the face to say that Stephen Hawking didn't know what he was talking about as far as statistics were concerned.

There's always a belief that politicians are intelligent well thought out induviduals in it for the best of motives sadly many are just self seeking half witted pillocks.
