Donald Trump is a master of satire on a par with Jonathan Swift.

I think the reaction of Gen. Kelly during the speech pretty much summed it up.

Sounds like an idiot how on earth does he think north korea is going to react to threats like that or what china and russia would do if nuclear weapons are used in norh korea. I'm old enough to remember the cuban missile crisis mainly it must have been the reaction of the adults around me - some of whom had seen two world wars- but alteast the leaders on both sides were sane enough to ap[preciate what nuclear war would mean. Not so sure trump does.

I think you've got something there. There are vanishingly few of the wartime generation left and what war usually means has gone out of the collective memory: we remember the Falklands and the Gulf and Afghanistan but they were a long way off and we won and not that many of our people died. They haven't left the scars that the Somme or the liberation of Dachau did.
Now we have an EU destabilised by the departure of the UK and an aggressive military power (with a lot of aging nukes) playing nationalist games in the Eastern Europe. As long as the EU holds together I'm not THAT concerned. If the EU falls apart I'll be really worried.
