Woke up at Five this morning to a beautifully clear star filled sky on the Gippsland coast. The southern cross lowering on the horizon just above the ocean. The Milky way strewn across the sky like someone had taken a giant paint brush filled with glitter paint and brushed a continuos line from horizon to horizon. And the moon...a beautiful eclipse of the moon....two hours later it was still there . From darkness and an orange red ball, to a soft pink sitting in a pale marine blue sky.
tha's the way to have coffee in the morning.!
:p

Does sound wonderful. Great description of the Milky Way.

...would have been better with tea rather than coffee, though.

Hoped to see it but it was cloudy and raining! The night before the moon looked glorious though.

we've been overcast for almost a week.
Though, even without special astronomic events, I would love to stand on a beach on a dark night and gaze at the Milky Way, again. [sigh]
Hard to do at 5400 feet elevation

Weeks of record breaking heatwave & associated clear skies. Along comes an astronomical phenomenon, and we get 24 hours of rain & clouds.

Last night we were working out in the back field, and watched several of the planets parade though the night sky.
