When i was a kid, my mum used to say thunder was the giant at the top of the beanstalk moving his furniture!

absolutely love thunder and lightning. here in the san francisco bay area, we get thunderstorms at best once or twice a season. it's an event when it happens. the times i've traveled across country it's been heaven going to areas with lots of thunderstorms - the eastern slope of the rockies in colorado, the plains of kansas, the sultry east coast.
someday we'll move someplace that has thunderstorms routinely.

Me too! My father and I used to sit in the garage and watch the lightning.
the eastern slope of the rockies in colorado has thunderstorms routinely.
And I love 'em! Here at the Four Corners we get "monsoons" all summer long and the electrical storms are MASSIVE! I've seen up to two hundred strikes per hour before!
One time, I was having a party at my apartment and lightning hit the house! We all thought we had died and gone to heaven, but that was just the alcohol speaking. It did leave a lovely burn mark on the house, though.

We have about 1 every 6 to 8 weeks here in Spain. Wonderful lightning that lights the whole sea towards north Africa. The thunder is so loud you can feel it. And the rain comes down warm in drops the size of a ping pong ball.

We have great 'boomers' here - especially when it gets to be very hot but one thing we almost never get is a rainbow.
Some weeks ago a rainbow appeard in the sky and several people photographed it but I was too slow!
With our weather patterns we almost never see one.

I absolutely hate lightening and high winds. While my husband and son sit on the porch watching the storms, my daughter and I are usually huddled under a cover.
