We have it bad here. I always plant 2 times the plants I will need and pull the infected plants as soon as I notice them faultering. Is there a pesticide for it or should I continue to pull them - 2 so far this year.

All the years I've grown maters I'm sorry to say I've neve heard of this

so I can't be any help! Wish I could, that must be awful! Years ago, we did

have the hornworms which could eat a lot, but that's about it!

I was told at one time it was caused by the saliva of the grasshopper eating on the tomato. It gets into the soil and lies dormant until the next year. I've had to pull 6-8 plants per year for at least 10 years. :-1

No way to sterilize the soil before you plant? I realize that still

doesn't help you NOW.



I put my maters in whisky (yes, I empty them first!!:D ) half barrels

with potting soil that's also been sterilized. Gets them up off the

ground, too.



I'm sure sorry to hear that.

We are at the point of doing that next year. I have to plant 16 - 20 tomato plants so I can get enough maters to can for sauce and whole tomatos to last the rest of the year. I actually burned the soil last year to try to kill the virus. It looks like everything is OK except in a 3 foot area. What I did notice is the volunteers from last year seem to be immune to the curly leaf - I am encouraging those plants.
