I drove past the tank in Hayle, earlier, or maybe it was later that evening. Couldn't believe my eyes
Turns out it was the stuck tank that caused the carnage.

But it does now explain why facebook went mad that evening with locals declaring that Angarrack was carnage and the Cornish complaining all visitors should be banned from driving through the Cornish narrow roads as they have no clue how to drive single track roads with the odd passing space now and again“An army tank, yes an actual army tank, driven by several inebriated Santas trying to get to the pub in Angarrack who got stuck on the way.”
