The annexation of Canada

Otherwise known as the fifty first state.
On the surface, an impossible outcome because reallocating all the United States Electoral College seats with an additional predominantly anti-US 25 million voters is not going to benefit the Republican party. For reference 153 electors are divided equally among the states and the District of Columbia (3 each), and the remaining 385 are assigned by an apportionment among states, and a new 51st state with perhaps 45 Electoral College votes will swamp the boat.
Except. Maine and Nebraska allocate the electoral votes they are entitled to in a semi proportional manner. And if the 51st State of Canada is set up with that same process, Canada's vote is neutered. Lots of people, little sway in electing the President.
You can bet someone's thought of that.
