"The Kitchen" seemed as good a place as any for this one!
I've been supplying a couple drink recipes in Bothwell's Pub tonight, and I thought it would be fun to see if anyone could stump me with a funky drink, or maybe you had a drink and can't remember what it's called, or you would like a good recipe for a drink, or whatever! I've been a bartender for a long damn time...there's not many I can't make!

have you got a recipe for mojitoes?.....i <3 them.

OK, Jika, I'll start with yours:
Mojito:
Highball glass, fill with ice
1 1/2 oz. white rum
juice from 1/2 a lime
dash of sugar
fill with soda water
garnish with mint
(Some folks use a drop of creme de menthe instead of mint. I say BLECH! Fresh mint is better)

Ahhh...a classic old-fashioned. One of my old favorites from my drinking days!
Rocks glass: 2 maraschino cherries, orange slice, (rind removed) sugar, dash of bitters. Crush these ingredients together.
Fill with ice
Add 3 oz. GOOD whiskey (I like Gentlemen Jack)
Splash of soda
Garnish with another orange slice and cherries.

Geez...You got me here...Is this one of those trick drinks, like a "Greyhound"? When I first learned that a Greyhound was vodka and grapefruit, I was really annoyed! Just call the damn thing "vodka and grapefruit"!!! LOL!!
I give Val...Lemme have it, and I'll add it to my list and give you all the credit!

So what is a Salty Dog then..I thought that was vodka and grapefruit with salt on the rim.....Ok I have one......Bloody Brain - and also Liquid Cocaine.....?? Those are our big ones......oh yeah and 3 Wiseman...

A salty dog is indeed a greyhound with a salted rim!
Bloody Brain:
1/2 oz. Bailey's
1/2 oz. Peach schnapps
Poured together slowly, these 2 liquors will form a ropey liquid, which does look similar to a brain. Drizzle in a bit of grenadine and you have the "bloody" part.
Liquid Cocaine:
Ice in a shaker
1/2 oz. Absolute
1/2 oz. Jagermeister
Shake to chill, strain into a shot glass. I've also made this one as a sipper, served over ice in a rocks glass.
Anyone brave enough to try a Cement Mixer?

Oops! Missed the 3 Wisemen!
This is a drink HOTLY contested among bartenders. Here's mine:
3 shot glasses arranged in front of my customer
#1 glass: Jack Daniels
#2 glass: Jim Beam
#3 glass: Johnny Walker
Shoot each shot as fast as you can. In my bar you get this round ONCE in an evening!
Most agree with the first two shots, but the third shot has sometimes been replaced with Jose Cuervo, Captain Morgan's, or Canadian Club.

U nailed the Jack -Jim and Johnny - but we put it all in one shot....They also make the sh*t outta Jager Bombs...We also have a friendly guy that comes and paints murals on our older buildings from Mexico - he drinks....cherry vodka, rum, and mint liquor - he calls it his flag......LOL
Oh hey - also what do u put in your Sex on the Beach - we got told by a chic from NewYork- ours were way off......Peach, Strawberry Schnapps - orange & pinapple juice, splash of grend. - and one lady has us put curaco (sp?) in it...I bartend in a bar in a town about 1100 people.....we really don't have any really strange drinks..We have been doing a lot of Pucker Martinis lately - and snake bites..But nothing ever really changes..How off are we on the Sex On the Beach..??

I used to adore snake bites! Geez, but I drank a lot...
Sex on the Beach is another one that has several variations. Mine is this:
Pint glass filled with ice
1 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. peach schnapps
1/2 oz. Chambord (Razzmatazz will do, but I like Chambord, less "syrupy.")
1/2 oz. Midori
Pineapple juice to almost fill the glass
Splash of cranberry juice
It should be a real pretty purple color when you're done, which makes it a big seller among the girls!
I've never heard of curaco in a SOTB. I may try that, though. Could be an interesting color!
If your crowd like Jager Bombs, have them try Mandarin Bombs, (Absolute Mandarin replaces the Jager) or Cherry Bombs (Stoli Cherri)!

Sorry about the Roy Cohen, BR, that was a BIT too obscure and
maybe only a west-coast deal? Dunno. Also, last time I had one was
about 25 years ago!
Anyway, it was supposedly named after some hot-shot New York
lawyer who liked it. That's what I was told, anyway.
Place 1 oz. of Stolichnaya vodka in a "flute" champagne glass.
Fill glass to rim with champagne. That's it!
Okay, how about a kamikaze? Haven't had those in years, either!

I live near Detroit, so yeah, it's a fairly large city.
Minks, I would bartend your daughters b-day party for free!
Peg, how do you make any money charging those prices??!
Val, no worries on the Roy Cohen, there is always going to be a drink any bartender hasn't heard of! Vodka and champagne, huh? Interesting....
Kamikaze:
3/4 oz. vodka
3/4 oz. triple-sec (orange flavored liquer)
dash of lime juice
Chill and strain into a shot glass

We don't make as much as many bars by selling it so cheaply, but we collect dues yearly and most of our money comes from gambling. When beer raised 30 cents a case, everyone raised their prices but us.

Baby Guinness = using one of those tall thin shot glasses 3/4 fill it with Khalua and top off with Baileys Itrish cream, it sepeartes into perfect black and white like guinness. IMO it tatstes bloody awful but it looks nice.

Ah HA. Peg, you work in a VFW type place then, correct? Makes sense, now. All our clubs like that around here are also very inexpensive.
Bothwell, your Baby Guinness is a B-52, minus the Grand Marnier! :yh_bigsmi
nvalleyvee, here's a flaming Dr. Pepper:
Pint glass half full of draft beer
shot glass with 3/4 oz. root beer schnapps and 1/4 oz. 151 rum
light the 151
drop the flaming shot into the beer
chug
