The home sold for $390,00, $10,000 more than the asking price,
and was sold to Modesto real estate agent Gerry Roberts, who plans
to make it his home.
Roberts said that his bid was accepted after he sent Laci's mother,
Sharon Rocha, and Scott's father, Lee Peterson, a letter praising the
home's charm as "exactly what I had been looking for all this time."
He said he would honor the home and planned to keep it in his family
for many years to come.
Scott and Laci paid $177,000 for the home in 2000.

Just a thought but if hes a real estate agent I wonder if hes thinking about turning a "celebrity home " profit contrary to his statements about keeping the home.
(Not that its anybodies business)

(Not that its anybodies business)I wondered that, myself. I also wondered if it was some sort of deal with
another real estate agent buddy to keep home prices up in the
neighborhood or something? Because from all I've ever heard, homes
where crimes are committed are "hard sells". Some of them have even
been completely torn down. (I think the house where the Manson murders
of Sharon Tate and the others ocurred was one of those)

there... in the general public, I mean.
I think there are ways he could have done it without leaving a crime
scene per se.

He'd only get half, anyway, the other half going to Laci's heirs. But
depending on how much was left after the remaining mortgage was paid
off...
In California at least, the law is vague and there have been many challenges
to it, it is based on the "Son of Sam" laws on criminals not profitting from
their crimes.
There are also people who are fighting for the CRIMINALS right to free
speech. Go figure.
I believe Sharon Rocha's suit to put any of her daughter's murderer's
profits in a trust is still wending its' way through the courts...
