Acronyms! All those abbreviated letters that stand for the most outlandish, long designations of something or other. What acronyms do you find annoying, and how would you make it much easier for the average person to understand?

That's clever. The site will generate a new acronym for you. Mine is PDP - parallel digital programming.

I find it annoying that I work for a national organisation whose name everyone thinks is an acronym but which isn't. So I'm always being asked "What do the letters stand for?"

three-letter acronyms are by far the most preferred acronyms - FDA, CIA, UPS, MIT, CYA, DEA....and of course, they have their own self-referential acronym - TLA.

i like TLA's quite a bit. i cringe at the more preposterous acronyms, where the name of the agency/group was back-formed from a word that was desired as the acronym. e.g. PATRIOT act, CARE, etc....
