Is the real reason being given for the firing of Four-Star General Byrnes?

Notice that his command is headquartered at Fort Monroe, Virginia -- YES...the very Fort Monroe where the much-discussed nuclear attack "exercise" is being run from *right now*, this very month of August 2005.

Is that part of the equation somehow?

As a hypothetical scenario, was/is something being done that General Byrnes disapproved of, and has someone maneuvered him out of the picture to get someone more accomodating and tractable into Fort Monroe?

Or, is there another factor? Was it - hypothetically - perhaps the other way around instead? Great intrigue centers on Fort Monroe right now in the month of August -- exactly what is happening there? Is the truth being covered up?

Every officer understands that when you put on a uniform, you are representing your country to everyone who sees you.

The way it was explained to me was that an ordinary man cussing out his wife in a restaurant will get some lifted eyebrows, and possibly get asked to leave. An officer in uniform that does the same thing will be reading the headlines in the local paper the next day, "The Air Force condones disrespect to women."
