New study out today. Thought some of you might find it interesting.

Surely they're not implying that Tylenol raises women's blood pressure but not men's!?!

That's sure what it sounds like to me!



Let me see if I can find out more... but I've looked at a few articles and

none has mentioned anything about men!

It has long been known the any anti-inflamatory will raise your blood pressure, with the exception of asprin(which will rip your stomach up). They thought Tylenol wasn't in that group, but they are finding out otherwise. I have taken Tylenol instead of Painkillers for a long time and yes my blood pressure is higher now. When I only take painkillers (for my screwed up neck) my blood pressure is lower. So what that is tell me is take THE VICODINE and lower my blood pressure. Chronic pain is the problem that doctors truly don't know how to manager, or are afraid of.

I'm luck I have a great doctor that can see the forest for the trees. He knows I can properly take vicodine with out become addicted. The key being if your are truly in PAIN you can't become addicted.

Interesting study for sure, but I think the medical community was aware of this already.

I'm on BP meds and they told me to take Tylenol anyway. Taking one tylenol isn't going to hurt you, it's when you take a whole handful of them that it becomes bad (and coincidentally can destroy your kidneys.)

Taking too much of any pain killer is going to be bad.

If thier headaches were caused by stress, and we know stress increases blood pressure and headaches are a sign of stress... well then theres your answer...

I don't think you're being a pain at all!!



Stress and/or headache can indeed increase your BP. And pain, well, I

found that out a while back when I had a pinched sciatic nerve and my

normally excellent BP went right through the roof!!



I think it's one of those things that you just have to take each with a

very large grain of salt, eh? I am an aspirin taker, stick with the

buffered and always eat a little something with it so I do alright.



I love Vicodin but unfortunately because of all the abuse out there,

doctors tend to look askance at you when you ask for it!

Geez - maybe I just found a cure for my very low blood pressure! Sometimes it is so low I can hardly put one foot in front of the other. My doc calls me the walking sleeper. The only time I was hospitalized was when I was in my 9th month of pregnancy and it dropped to 65/40. Usually I just eat a bunch of fruit or sugar and that seems to help.

lol. The nurse at the doctor's office told me (after I had waited 2 hours to see the doctor) that my blood pressure was a little high. I told her, "It's reflecting my aggravation level.":wah:

Thanks for the information valerie. Have been dealing with daily headaches and now raised BP. Been taking Tylenol for the headaches, so guess I will go a different direction!

I wouldn't trust it. I went to a FAAO once, named Schwartz. Guy must've been a pediatrician because kids were everywhere. Very disappointing.

Well just saw national news on this whole study... apparently pretty flawed!

(And Far, one doctor brought up PAIN as BP rise cause!!;) )



The study relied on people to say the amounts they were taking of the

painkillers, and whether they had been diagnosed with high BP. Great.

People running the study didn't do any of that themselves.



Oh well.

Geez Val did you read the new FDA thing that the man who ran all the menopause studies that stated hormone replacement prevented breast cancer - is now in jail for falsifying his data. :-5

No, I didn't but it figures. Guy oughta be strung up by his you-know-whats!

They say he caused a bunch of us to take hormones - I didn't get there but I think of all the women who took those drugs and it PISSES me off.
