i certainly hope mentioning restaurants by name won't be considered spam. i was thinking that we could talk about the ones we like (or not) and that people living in our regions could benefit. Bothwell and i were online yesterday looking at restaurants in my area since he will be here soon, and although he is a world-class cook in his own right, i don't want him slaving in the kitchen ;) . we are seeking beachside casual for cold oysters, shrimp, and beer where we can sit outside. and there is a restaurant i wanted to mention to everyone--normally i dislike chains, but if you have a Johnny Carino's near you, it is wonderful italian food and great atmosphere.

There's a place here by me that has the BEST steak ever. I'm the pickiest steak eater there is, so you can believe me when I say "The Best."

It's called the Longhorn. If you want prime rib, they got it. If you like porterhouse, T-bone, filet mignon, whatever...it comes just how you like it, and they have this stuff they call "prarie dust" which is a blend of pepper and some other stuff I don't recognize and it's positively SINFUL.

One of their side options is a sweet potato and it comes with butter and brown sugar. They also ALWAYS have asparagus, one of my personal favorites.

Seafood? Gotta be Fishbones. Every type of oyster, Mussel, scallop and shrimp you can imagine. If the way you like it isn't on the menu, explain to the chef and he'll do it.

Now I'm hungry. Thanks, LC.

Monty Python Spam Song

Scene: A cafe. One table is occupied by a group of Vikings wearing horned helmets. Whenever the word "spam" is repeated, they begin singing and/or chanting. A man and his wife enter. The man is played by Eric Idle, the wife is played by Graham Chapman (in drag), and the waitress is played by Terry Jones, also in drag.

Geez, that brings back memories of being in the casinos in Biloxi. They had SPAM slot machines. And everytime you won the little spam would dance around. And if you got 3 spam cans in a row, they'd go "spam", "SPAM!" "SPAM!!!" I always got a chuckle outta that!

But I do like Spam, myself!
