"lift" vs. "elevator"
US says "trunk" and I think the UK says "boot" right?
"loo" or "WC" vs "bathroom" and "restroom"
"telly" vs "TV"
What's a lorry, by the way?

We say tap and you say faucet...which must kill a lot of jokes because there are sooo many old jokes along the lines of "Did you hear about the injured tap dancer? He broke his leg when he fell in the sink!"
Also, we say dummy and you say pacifier. But to you a dummy is an idiot or a jerk.
But to us a jerk is when you pull something quickly. Of course, you might tug it instead, but here a tug is a little boat which pulls a large ship into dock.
And to us a pacifier is someone who keeps the peace or calms things down.
Except we'd say pacifist!
We ask for a burger and salad, you order a burger and ask for it to be 'dragged through the garden'!! (Oh, and you say 'thru'!) Lol!
We say the time is a quarter TO nine or a quarter PAST nine, you say it's a quarter OF nine! (Sorry, haven't a clue WHAT that one means! Lol!)
To you a red-neck is someone uncouth, to us it would be someone with sunburn!
You say vacuum, we say hoover.
You say "down the tubes" (toobs! Lol!) We say "down the drain".
You pronounce buoy as "boo-hey" we say "boy".
You write a check, we write a cheque.
You have Florida Keys, we have Quays which we pronounce as Keys! Lol! :-4
You have the John (!?) we have the bog/ loo/ lav.
We have Tuna and Tuesday, which we pronounce as Chew-na and Chewsday, but you say Too-na and Toos-day
You prononce your T's as D's, so Marty becomes Mardy and David Letterman becomes Ledderman! Why? :-3
You have Jesse as a boys name, but here a Jessie is a big girls blouse!
Hmmm...lol! How do I translate that? hehe
You say tub, we say bath
And, of course, you say fanny, meaning butt....
Butt (lol) here fanny means something very rude indeed!
I'll leave someone else to explain that one! hehe :wah:
