Is anyone able to help re: measurements?

i believe 8 ounces are a cup, dry or other wise.
I bought a recipie book from Ebay not realising the measurements were in cups. Does anyone happen to know how many ounces = 1 cup for dry ingredients and how many millilitres or fluid ounces = 1 cup.
