I was crying over my coffee this morning...watching this young man talk about losing his wife...so, so sad.

I saw that on the news too. On one hand my heart went out to him...I can't imagine losing a family member before my eyes in the way he did. On the other, I was FURIOUS with him for not evacuating and taking his wife, his son and his grandson with him. I really hope they can find her so the family can be reunited---maybe next time there's a hurricane people will heed the warnings and evacuate when they are told. :-1

Lilafran, I am so glad you are OK. Once again it has hit the AL coast. What is the point is cleaning up and rebuilding until the season is over? Gulf Shore was hit hard by Ivan and missed by Dennis and flooded by Katrina. We were there back in April and the speed at which they were rebuilding was amazing but the devestation was still visible. Now, after all they have done, they have to start all over again. Mobile was heavily damaged and most of Daulphin Island is gone. Bayou La Batre is all but gone.
I have family in Gulfport and have not heard anything about them (we aren't that close but I'm still concerned for them). They rode out Camile but I hope they had the good sense not to do that again.
Guess I'll have to find some other place to go gamble now.
We had a tornado hit here from the feeder bands of the hurricane. Three houses were destroyed but only slight injuries. Those types of tornados are worse than the regular kind, if you can imagine that. Tornados themselves are hard to prepare for but those borne of hurricanes are almost impossible to warn people about.
I hope everyone in the garden is safe and all of their families and friends are safe too.
