My wonderful husband had a heart attack last night. Fortunately, the doctors were able to open the blocked artery with 2 stints. He will be OK. He'll be in the hospital for a couple more days. He had been having problems for several weeks but would not let me take him to the hospital. It must be a guy thing with doctors. I will keep everyone posted.

When you can, tell him we're thinkin' of him...

Wow, NV....I'm glad he's doing well. Don't let him go all dumb and not take his medication like SOME PEOPLE around here.

Keep us posted on his progress and tell him we're pulling for him.

The doctor thing is male intuition. We suspect, with good reason, that they will make our condition worse.

NV give him my regards. and since that is what happened to me we can compare notes later if he wishes. i had three stents placed in my coronary arteries in the midst of a myocardial infarction. difference is i had no warning right up until the event. did you have to call ambulance, or did you drive him? in any case, he may have to go to cardiac rehab, and take meds, but it's good he got the stents. if they went through femoral artery they will probably tell him not to drive for a while. all the best to you both, i am here if you want to talk about any of it.

i know this is scary stuff NV...i was superwoman before this, it changes things. it takes a long time to feel like yourself again. and there is an element of "oh hell is it going to happen again"...i am sure there will be a lot to talk about as time goes on. the good news is he was able to have stents instead of a bypass. my cardio told me i was going to wake up with my chest splayed or dead.

I was pretty scared but knew he had the best doctors in the state looking after him. I knew he was feeling better when he called his nurse "Nurse Ratchett" to her face. I hated leaving the hospital tonight. He will be taking his meds and following the doctor's orders or I will kill him and get it over with

i made the nurses elect me "patient we want to see leave the most". and Bothwell was so upset, he was 4300 miles away, it was very difficult. there was nothing he could do but keep calling, but it meant a lot. i have since been in hospital twice more, and the nurses still hate me, ( i will not stay in bed) but i am determined to overcome. so will BTS! save this thread to your favorites so he can read it when he comes home!

I just got home from work and saw this, BTS is in my prayers. :-4

Please make him stay to course with the medications, if they aren't right get the doctor to adjust them. It take several different kinds of med to get it right. He had a guardian angel watching over him. He will do fine as long as he listens to the Doctors.

LC, my dear sweet friend tried her best to not take the meds, stubborn as can be that lady.. But I threatened her every way possible to make her take the medication. She is doing better now that Bothwell and BR and I ganged up on her..

BTS AND LC CAN HAVE A SUPPORT GROUP RIGHT HERE AT FG, IT WILL DO THEM BOTH GOOD..

holy crap, just saw this. sending beams of healthfullness BTS's way.

I'm going back to the hospital. There is no way I can sleep in our bed without him. He might need something during the night, something might happen and I won't be there.

I poked fun at the ability of doctors earlier. It was just that...fun. I've seen them do some amazing things and they have this heart surgery stuff mastered. With the excellent care of the hospital staff, the doctors, our prayers and God's care he will be a new man in a few days.:-6

Give him my best! Boy, this sure seems to be happening a lot.

i suspect NV just prefers to stay at hospital. after stents placed in he is being monitored constantly in ICU/telemetry unit. and in fact stents made blood flow to heart much better than before. keep the good thought!

He is coming home tomorrow. He will have to take it easy for another week and slowly work back into his routine. And yes LC - I needed to be at the hospital for my own peace of mind. His nurse kicked me out tonight - told me to go home and rest. I am exhausted. Thanks for all the good wishes. I know Mr. Onry will be back on the computer and in the garden sometime tomorrow. He is a little stir crazy right now.

Bad patients do better! Good for him. ANd good for the nurse who told you to go home and rest. Poor sweetie. It's often harder on the support staff than the victim. :-4

Sleep while you can NV, you will be busy once he comes home.

You can boss him around all you want now, he's the patient!

since BTS is going to be reading here tomorrow, this is for him from his very favorite cop ......you ever want to compare notes on this shite just let me know. of course we are all different. but this experience will have some things in common. one thing i would say at the outset...expect exhaustion for some time. you're going to feel tired longer than you may think. you won't feel your normal energy for a while. and it's maddening and frustrating as hell! i wondered if i would ever feel like my normal strong self again. i could chase a crack dealer for blocks through the street, then i could barely walk through the grocery store. . be patient and kind to yourself.

HAHAHA ....when he is discharged tomorrow they will give him all kinds of instructions. and it will probably be low cholesterol, low salt, low fat, low flavor, low anything-he-really-likes, zero cigs or alcohol, no sex ever again (JUST KIDDING ) and no heavy lifting for a while.

Tell me truthfully LC - what did you do? I'm a little scared about the food thing. They said absolutely NO SMOKING. He likes some beer after work.....I am honestly asking for guidance.
