From Virginia red clay country

I just happened on this site when googling "discussion groups." Not a skilled navigator of these highly sophisticated (to me) cyber-forums (thick-headed in fact), but I like what I see and will give it a shot. I'm living in the northern Shenandoah Valley in Virginia about a mile from the Blue Ridge--pretty place, esp. this time of year. I lke to rove all over it by bike, canoe, foot. One of my fantasies is to ditch the car-based life, in fact, but that's another topic. I'm 53, a family man, a mental health caseworker by current occupation. I do like discussion a lot, find that I don't get enough real opportunities day to day. I've tried keeping journals many times, but I lack the discipline to keep them up, and at bottom I probably wonder what the point is if no one is on the receiving end. So now this. Thanks for listening.
