Can I make an appeal that WON'T cost any money. Over the next few weeks the woods are going to be carpeted with conkers and, about a month after that, acorns. Most of these will be crushed underfoot or bitten into by squirrels. Instead of letting that happen, may I ask readers to pick up a handful and take them back home. Planted into little pots, disused drinks containers are ideal with a hole in the bottom for drainage, if watered just once a week and left in the garage or shed to protect them from the frost, come the spring, they will be ready for planting back into some quiet little corner of the woods, therebe putting back into the world just a very little of what we take out. Take care of our world - it's a beautiful planet and let's face it, it's all we've got. Thank you.

If we all did just that, we could have a world-wide ForumGarden garden!!! How cool would that be?? Good idea, Frederick!

That sounds cool, but would that work with dirt? Bring some home, plant it with other dirt, soon you have a yard, then 20 acres, then you sell and you have money, and you can pay off all your bills!
-I know, everything revolves around money and bill collectors with me, I need a life.

But now its banned in most schools because the do -gooders are worried about being sued - let kids be kids and if they want to play with conkers and dirt and balls, skipping rope and any thing else they can get their grubby little hands on LET EM .

come back......The best thing to do is put the conker (brown & round) on a saucer on the windowledge under a piece of kitchen roll and soak it, make sure it does'nt go dry.
When you see a green shoot, plant it in some potting compost.
Personally i prefer to thread a shoelace through it and hope i'll get a champion.
