This is a bit wierd, but my sister went through drive-thru of McDonalds yesterday and her little girl wanted a Happy Meal w/ chicken selects instead of McNuggets in it, so my sis asked if she could and they said "no".........Soooooooo then my sister said, "OK, then I will have an order of chicken selects, a small french fry, a small orange drink and I want to purchase a Happy Meal toy." Guess what?? They said "NO"!!!!! Can you figure this one out??? How can they do that??? She was ordering from the manager too, so not some kid that didn't understand. Also, Happy Meal toys have always been available for separate purchase here. So what do you think???

She must not have given the secret code correctly.

I hope she cancelled her order.

Thanks! Well you could be right. The toy right now is the mini Madame Alexander dolls. And they ARE adorable ! Could be some collectors going wild?! My sister and I do both collect the larger ones for our daughters...and I am trying to get the whole set of the McDonald ones for my daughter although I don't consider myself some avid collector of them!! Well in any case it WAS horrible customer service ya know? Because even as I sit here and type, my sister is still scratching her head trying to figure out what part of the order she wasn't allowed to do!! LOL She is one of those reallly non-confrontational people that just does what people tell her to! So in the end I don't even know what she actually ordered! UGH!! I will find out/ let you know! LOL

Pfft....McDonalds. That was my first job, back in the 70's when the burgers were still beef and they were cooked when ordered.

I went there the other day and the cold, congealed, soy-trash that they served me barely passed for food. The fries had obviously been mde an hour before in grease that hadn't been changed in a week. The Dr. Pepper was watered down. The server was surly and slow. The cheese wasn't even melted! I took a couple of bites then threw the entire mess away.

I've had it with them and I vow never to eat there again, cute toys or no.

Just to play devil's advocate, (Note: I hardly ever patronizre Mickey D's or the like, unless no other alternative is available) did you consider buying the "Happy Meal" with the nuggets, (in addition to the chicken your daughter liked) and just discard the nuggets? Then you would have gotten the toy! Since you were willing to "pay" seperately for the toy anyway, without the meal. :-2

Besides, you can't legally throw away Mcnuggets. Biohazard. Takes longer to decompose than Twinkies.

Geez guys, I understand the principle, but why make the child suffer? Buy the Happy Meal for the child, and then complain about the pricipals to the Mickey D's "regional" director for that area!!

Ahhh yesss, the good old days. The days before BK and McD’s, when someone with an entrepreneurial spirit could open up a hamburger stand and have a chance. Those were real hamburgers too. They had to be to keep business from going down the street to another hamburger stand. Now we have to let our kids decide between the two giants and their 2 cent imported toys.:-5

Ok everyone, this thread really took off! I was away for a day...but it is true, it is all about the principle of the matter!!! And by the way it wasn't my daughter, this was about my sister's daughter. My kids do love McDonalds, but I too think it is GROSS. I call it dog food. Nasty stuff. I actually think they have saturated America to the point where the adults are repulsed by it and the kids will be next...eventually. By the way, don't know if all locations offer apples instead of fries in the kids meals but our do. My daughter who is type 1 insulin dependent diabetic love the apples but instead of caramel to go w/ them we ask for peanut butter instead!! Way delicious and more healthy!!!

YUMMMM IN & OUT BURGERS..!! the best, the kid will enjoy them as well, to heck with the happy meals..treat the kid to in & out..!!:D

im not a great McDonalds fan, i can count on one hand how many times ive been there and mostly its been forced upon me..... however having said that....

industry "secret" about their fries. as soon as they are made from the whole potato, they are dropped into a sugary brine and soaked for 4-6 hours then "flash" frozen.

from my understanding, McDs has a patent on the way they process their fries.

The fries are good and the soaking in sugar doesn't surprise me....is this true to be fact? My sister had told my husband they put sugar on their fries awhile back and he didnt' believe her. I also heard their hamburger buns are full of sugar! That, I believe. My 9 yr old just walked in and is reading what I am typing.....he panicked and is convinced we are sabotaging his favorite place to eat!!!!! LOL

Did any of you see the commercial w/ the pregnant lady and she is biting into a delicious flame broiled real beef burger from (think it was Hardees) and the camera freezes just before it hits her teeth and a narrator abruptly blurts out, "Better enjoy it now--it's going to be McDonalds for the next 18 yrs!!" I love that one!!! And truly McDonalds does seem to have my kids in a trance! UGH
