-Lets use this opportunity to state things that you feel are unfair. Little things in your everyday life, or BIG things that presidnet of the FG can rule over and set a final decision. We will elect a judge so to speak, oh, I like this just like Judge Judy on channel 4 in the afternoon. (I know I have to get a life)

-Here is my complaint. The day before yesterday my son smelled something hot, like hot metal, I came down from upstairs and yes I could smell it to, but I had the patio door open, and all the windows, so it was hard to distinguish where the odor was coming from, we closed everything but still couldnt. So , the next mornign I was in my laundry room and KABOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMJM!!!!!!!!!

Glass was everywhere. My chandelier that comes with my townhouse exploded, the light bulb, and the entire chandelier were talking huge amounts of glass. It exploded so hard that all that is hangling out of my ceiling are wires, burn wires.

-I immediately turned the power off, guys my lil guy sits right under that at the dinning room table and does his homework, card games etc. There is glass in my walls downstairs, I called the landlord and I have to pay to replace it. What!!!!

I was using the correct size bulb for that socket(my ex is a commercial electrician, so I know alittle what I am talking about) No bleeping way am I paying for that.

She is tacking it on to my rent, which is $550. whe want $700 at the end of the month, no way, I asked my ex, he said it was propbably old wiring especially if the wires are fried and snapped off, and the odor is a dead give away if that is where it came from.

ok guys what should I do, I cant afford a lawyer, I cant get kicked out, I love this place and I dont have $700

-is small claims court a choice.

This might seem extreme but Ive done this & it works. Call your congressmans office Mon. morning. They will put you in touch with the right people. This is CRAP ! Dont take it ! You have rights, your not at your landlords whim. I have used my congressman before & their help was enormous. In fact I wasnt moving fast enough for them, they ran a very tight ship !

Can you have your ex come and officially inspect it and get a statement to your landlord? You can take it to court if you have to.

JAZMUND,

As a renter you have rights. Find you local renters right board. It's his job to fix the problem not yours period. You can call any free legal service and I'm sure they would tell you the same thing. Not your responsibility period, your a tenent not the owner.

Just know that this guy may get nasty so you may want to consider your options carefully... protect yourself, and stand up for your right. He is banking on the fact that you don't know the laws protecting renters.

Good luck and keep us posted.. :-5

Jas, many good suggestions provided from posts above. But after you get the wiring thing straghtened out, & if you do in fact have to pay to replace the chandelier, you may want to consider getting a decient looking one from a "Home Depot" type store for $100 or so, that's much more within reasonalble price reach! (for now at least, to get you through) :-3 Just a thought.

Thanks all of you, I am already on it,

-Finished rough draft from Nomads suggestion

-I know 3 people(patients) on the local fire department

-Cars, yes! I already thought of that but listen to this, they are tacking it on to my rent! No I cant go and replace it myself becuase they want the townhouses uniform in appearance, so I said"hey my neighbor has Italian tile, and my other neighbor has tan carpet, I would like blue Ok.? Uh, they didnt appreciate my sence of humor.

Very hard to understand, since your landperson almost certainly has insurance that would cover this. It's probably not going to cost him/her a cent.
