Body World and sex education

I attended the "Body World" exhibit in Clevland last month with my twelve year old grandson and saw it as an excellant opporunity to broach the subject of the responsibility a boy/man has in fathering a child. Seeing fetus from early conception to full term showed the development of life in its progression. Seeing a pregnant woman opened up and seeing the fetus in the birth canal was very powerful.
I believe that witnessing visually how life begins and evolves can help destroy any "illusions" about pregnancy. I am against abortion but I am adamantly pro-choice. By sharing my awe of pregnancy with my grandson I hoped to instill in him the same values that I have. That value is based on complete and informed sex education and instilling in him the responsability of his actions. I am not expecting him to "wait" until marriage for his first sexual encounter. What I do expect is for him to be aware of life and what can happen and use appropriate contraception until he is ready to produce a child. I want him safe from unwanted pregnancies and disease. That way he never has to be culpable in making a "choice " over abortion or fatherhood.
