Hi guys, remember when going to a movie was a treat? When it was $2.50 to get in and your mom could give you a $5 and that included a ton of treats.
Remember the first time that you were old enough to go alone with a friend.
Well since where I go is $9.50 a person and $4.50 a matinee, I though maybe I could save myself some $$$$$ if I had an opion of a movie before I went.
-I just went an seen a movie called "The Wedding Crashers" It was funny from beginning to end, not for young teens though. Some frontal female nudity (down Nomad) just kidding

This is a movie I would see again and again.
-Share what you have just seen even if it is DVD or VHS.

I used to love going to the cinema as a kid, both with my parents and then later with friends. But for some reason now I just don't get that buzz that I had when I was younger to go to the movies and watch anything. I'd rather just wait until it came out on DVD, even though it will cost me a lot more.
Strange I know, but that's just me!!

Chris what do you mean it will cost you more to wait for it to come out on DVD? Well, I am the same way. Would rather wait and then rent it. I have NEVER enjoyed the movie theatres...I have never understood why people would pay money to go sit in a dark room for 2 hrs!!!

Well the price of watching movies in the cinema is (at least the last time I went, unless it has changed that much,) less than the price of buying that same film on DVD. I do agree with u on wanting to pay money to sit in a dark room with a rowdy crowd for 2 hours, especially when u always have a loud, tall person sitting in front of you, (it always happens to me anyway!!)

A typical visit to the movies in the 40's and early 50's consisted of two full length features, a cartoon and Pathe News. I remember seeing two Bogart films back to back "The Maltese Falcon" & "Casablanca", a "Daffy Duck" cartoon and news on the Okinawa Invasion.

I remember going to see Star Wars in 1979 with my dad ; the seats were red plush and slightly flea-bitten, the lights were bright and the film was wonderful.
I still love going to the movies though ; if I have a day off in the week I will often go to an afternoon viewing of something. There's hardly anyone in the cinema and it feels kind of illicit, like I'm skiving off school or having an affair or something. And apart from anything else, I can turn the damned mobile phone off for a couple of hours!
And a really, really good film is still an "event" ; a group of friends and I went to see the Lord of the Rings films each year and it was a party atmosphere.
I do miss that old UK advert though - "Hey! Crusader! Have you any nuts?" That was classy......

We have a theater out here where a feature costs $3 and you get to sit in an old playhouse. I love going there because I can see the movie while it's current (usually it takes a year for movies on DVD to come to my library) and we can walk around the corner for ice cream afterwards. I won't go to see a movie in a real theater unless it's something I've really waited to see for a long time. I go to one movie at full price a year.

I remember when I went to a movie and I saw some action, maybe some fisticuffs, some romance, and maybe a kiss, with a wholesome feel-good ending.
I didn't excpect to see: blood, full nudity, people's faces being ripped off, cursing, savage torture, or limbs flying in all directions.
Movies have changed for the worse.

We went to see Flightplan w/ Jodie Foster and it sucked. I can only give it 1 popcorn kernel out of a possible 5. The whole movie was sucky.

There isn't much being made these days that I will shell out 8 or 9 bucks to go see at the cinema. It really makes me mad that a fun past time has turned into something I have to budget for, so I solved that by not going to the movies anymore. There's nothing out there that is worth that kind of money that I can't wait for 6 months for till it comes out on DVD. I can't actually remember the last movie I went to.
Bullet and I rent movies pretty often though. The last one we got was "Boogeyman." We both felt like a scary movie, but we ended up with that instead. *yawn* Not reccommended.

Whew! I dodged a bullet there! Thanks for the review and the heads up...but it occurs to me that we should have a "Movie Review" thread so that we can all post what we think of the latest shows.
