Ok, I would like your imput on the use of denial, bare with me. We all know their are different uses for denial, but can people who use denial for basically everything, really forget the things they said and did.

For example, not just one or two items in a conversation, but years of things, or for instance a conversation you had with someone.

-Suddenly individuals seem to forget that they said this, or did that, and ya know they are lying out their ears!!!!

These people intrigue me and drive me nuts at the same time. Is it a head game or how they live their life, and do they k now what they are doing, and why?

I don't know and they don't intrique me, they **** me off to no end, lol.

well there is selective memory, drink, and tape recorders. or maybe they are gaslighting you. :sneaky:

Denial can be so fantastic though. Especially if you've lost something.

Dad: Where did you leave my power drill?

Steph: (Blank faced.) Power drill? What? Do we have one of those?

Geez - denial is my life's password. When in doubt - deny, deny, deny. It is very unfortunate I am never able to maintain that attitude. I have to come out of denial ALL THE DAMNED TIME and accept responsibilty. It makes me sad :-4 ROFLMAO

a popular tactic amongst the misbehaviours in class is to either play on the senelity of some teachers or just deny it in a way thats not outright or playing dumb but...kinda hard to describe realy.

i guess you could say its telling it a different way, i don't know if that fits into the denial catagory. it would seeing as a lot get caught up.

Well, let's clarify something. Are you talking about denial as in someone being in denial because they don't want to 'handle' or face something because it's too painful, or are you talking about a liar? Someone who lies constantly in order to not take responsibility for their actions? Let's call a spade a spade. Liars do not amuse me or intrigue me. They annoy me, hurt and destroy relationships. I don't find that intriguing. I have no clue why they do it except for low self esteem, fear of rejection or for the more devious, enjoyment.

I grew up with a parent who lived out their usefulness by denying everything. In a nutshell because I dont feel like feeling bad today, Ill just say its a defense mechanism and a way to avoid having to accept personal responsibility with a touch of control freak thrown in for good measure.
