<t>Last week the US Census Bureau released figures showing that 46.2 million Americans live in poverty. That means 1 in 6 Americans – a record number – cannot meet their basic needs for food, clothing and shelter for themselves and their families. A record number of Americans live in poverty. Let me ...

The Disability Test.
I am with you! I am disabled and so often cannot find a handicap spot at the grocery store or the library even. I think there are not enough spaces as the baby boom generation ages, but the use of these spaces by the able bodied is disgraceful!

Controversial I know, but I think US weather due to climate change
<t>I know that the issue of manmade global warming is considered controversial. At the same time every reputable scientific organization in the US and worldwide agrees that the earth’s surface temperature has been increasing in recent decades due to human induced infusions of CO2 into the atmosphere ...

Hybrids is a great read with a surpize ending
<t>I love reading thriller/page turners/sci-fi and “Hybrids” by Whitley Strieber fits that bill and then some. I had never read anything by Streiber before even though he is very well known in the “aliens” genre. Streiber wrote “The Grays” which is a classic in the genre. Others know him as the ...

<t>Do you think this 36 year old car washing husband and dad can win America’s got talent? Have you heard him sing? “Old Blue Eyes” will never be dead while Landau is alive. His Frank Sinatra voice has won over America throughout this long hot summer. His cool tones are a breath of fresh air on ...

Unions and the Declining Middle Class in America
<t>So what do unions have to do with the declining middle class in America? Aren’t unions just a roadblock to a company getting rid of troublesome of lazy employees? What do we need unions for anyway? We have a minimum wage, OSHA, ADA, and a bevy of anti-discrimination laws. Unions only strip US ...

Can Humans Give Up All Eating of Animals?
<t>This might seem like a ridiculous question to many of you who are still ridiculed or misunderstood for being a vegetarian, but I believe it is a distinct possibility. In fact I believe that we are ‘evolving ‘as a species to a place where it is no longer necessary for us to eat animal protein. In ...

Re-electing the President - can it be done?
<t>Regardless of whether you think President Obama should be re-elected, the question is can he be? Has the economy completed defeated his re-election chances before the campaign has even begun. It seems the media and of course the Republicans would like us all to believe this is so. So what would ...

Are you Watching Ancient Aliens?
<t>I am intrigued by the thought that aliens visited earth millions of years ago and interacted with cave people. The “proof” of this supposedly is in the hieroglyphics that show beings that look like space man or have large heads and big eyes. In later times it is theorized that aliens assisted ...

Is it Possible to Win In the NCAA without Cheating?
<t>It seems that the NCAA football and men’s basketball programs across the country are mired in cheating. Someone offers hundreds of thousands of dollars for Cam Newton’s services. Reggie Bush and his family accept illegal benefits. The scandal at Ohio State grows daily. And finally the disgrace at ...

A Philosophy for Respecting All of Life – Defying Gravity
<t>I believe in respect for all of life and I believe that a creator made us all – every species and none is “above” another. This is the basis of everything I believe in and the philosophy by which I try to live my life. I believe a loving creator wanted us all to live together and converse ...
