It's been confirmed that it's indeed Steve's plane.

Who would've thought that he would've ended up so close?

ALOHA!!
MOTTO TO LIVE BY:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.
WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

Not sure but it goes to reason that Fosset may be a fossil by now.

fossett's plane found ????
I feel that Fossett is dead but I am wondering how an experience pilot like him would fly into the side of a mountain. Did he have a heart attack, pass out for some unknown reason? The news said it was a little foggy but not being a pilot, wouldn't that cause you to not fly near mountains? The man was known for his liking to take chances. The cat ran out of nine lives.

A small plane thought to be the one being flown by adventurer Steve Fossett when he disappeared has been found by search crews.
Mr Fossett has not been seen since he took off in his Bellanca aircraft from an airstrip at an isolated ranch in the Nevada desert on September 3 last year.
The National Transportation Safety Board said the airplane "appears to be the aircraft piloted by Steve Fossett."
The wreckage was located about 10,000ft (3,200m) up the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the vicinity of Mammoth Lakes, California. An investigator has been sent by the NTSB to the accident site.
The news comes after hiker Preston Morrow said he found an FAA identity card bearing Mr Fossett's name, a pilot's licence, a third ID and $558 in cash just west of the town on Monday but saw no sign of a plane or of any human remains.
Mammoth Lakes is around 90 miles south of hotel magnate Barron Hilton's Flying M Ranch which Mr Fossett left in a single-engine plane before he went missing.
Search teams had already flown over the area but it had not been considered a likely place to find the plane.
Mr Fossett's widow Peggy said in a statement: "I am hopeful that this search will locate the crash site and my husband's remains. I am grateful to all of those involved in this effort."
Ummm could you provide a longitude and latitude please ?
