Im usually in a hurry and when I need a haircut I pop in to one of the local chain joints.

By accident I walked into a place Id not been before.

It was a sports barber shop, complete with a putting green, memorabilia and lots of tv's with different sports channels running.

Thats all fine but as usual I had to be somewhere and wasnt paying much attention.

At least not until I sat in the chair.

As soon as someone starts cutting I know what the result will be, I can just tell.

Right off I knew this guy was a professional. I was in the chair for a good 40 min. He was exact and he took his time. The back of the neck was prepped with a hot towel and warm shaving cream and he used a straight razor.

Whens the last time a barber used a straight razor on you ?

He used talc and lotion.

What a treat !

Next time Ill go in for a shave just for the hell of it.

Id highly recommend walking into one of those shops with a barber pole and an old guy in there. Its a lost art.

Your right, they are a dying breed. Mr Oscar love's all that fuss and attention.

When my dad was dying i used to give him a wet shave with hot towels and talc. He found it very comforting.

That Joan Rivers --- If she has any more face lifts, she'll be waxing her chin!! :wah:

Yep not too many shops like that around any more. The smaller citys and towns have a few left. Where has the good old hair cut gone.

I take my boys to a guy around the corner and he is very professional and does the "treatment". You don't get that with the chains.

We still have 2 of those "old school" barber shops operating here.
