Why does it seem to me that fireworks begin on 1st January and end 31st December accumulating to a downright noise nuisence between October and December.
I am not an old grump, i enjoy seeing young kids having a great time on November 5th.
I object to having my ears hurt and my pets bothered by inconsiderate people who let them off at any reason.
The louder they are, the better to some people.
I believe our government introduced laws recently to stop these people creating noise nuisence but typical, we don't have the police to enforce them.
Public displays are great for those who want to see the big guns but are short of money.
It just seems that it is always the same houses that this noise comes from.

i think hey should prohibit shops from selling them altogether,, it should be just organised events that are allowed to use them:mad: im dreading it this year for my dog who we just got in feb:(

Fireworks start around June 22nd and last till about July 10th around my neck of the woods. yes, they are great on the 4th of July, but not every night.

My Scrappy is petrified and its dreadful to see him trying to hide himself and shake uncontrollably and not be able to go out for a walk or even in the garden. Upsets the kids to see him like that so they now dont like to hear fireworks. What pi55es me off even more is how inconsiderate people are, letting them off all hours from now until New Year is unbearable.:-5

If you get tense thinking how are they going to re-act, they pick up your vibes and know that something is worrying you. They will then associate that with the noise they are hearing.
I have had a scurge on my local Asian shop for some years now. I see kids coming out of there with the big fireworks and it's illegal to sell to them at that age. As i said, not enough police to enforce the laws.

Yea i agree about the pet advice,, but we got oour Sheila at 18 months old already,, dont know what she has laready been through,, so not a lot we can do... she hates the noise though,,, farmers shooting near us sometimes ,, thunder,,, :rolleyes:

I will never forget about 2 yrs ago, we were going through a water drought and inconsiderate SIL from across the street starts doing the fireworks. The entire street freaked out on him. We have flat roofed housing. And he had the gall to complain "that it's July 4th", blah, blah, blah.

The last thing they want is successful crime reduction. The police aren't merely inept - though they're inept - their only incentive is to fail to win.

I have reported the corner shop over and over to the local boys in blue about seeing kids coming out of there with big fireworks and alcohol. Eventually, plod told me to object to their license next application.
Thinking about it, i've never seen a cat bother a set of badgers or a pack of foxes before.

I don't know if this will help but when i've had pets terrified in the past, i've drowned the noise out with some-thing they recognise. The hoover, the hi-fi, radio etc.
As you will know, lots of cuddles and re-assurence will help.
Mine don't take a blind bit of notice so i'm really lucky.
We got builders in. Friday, there was a large rastafarian dude drilling in my kitchen. He turned everything off and said Listen, i can hear a funny noise. It was one of our persians happily sneezing beside him. "Is my face bovvered?" No, i don't think she was. :wah:
