I left the forum at Orange to come here. Orange is awful people picking fights for the hell of it

I belong to a forum for pet owners so constant photos and stories of what the doggies did today dont annoy anyone.

I must admit just lately I have been looking around, some of the topics here and the comments just remind me of Orange and I wont get pulled into that again!

I just joined another forum an hour ago. I bought a watch on eBay which arrived today and I've been staring at it, it's a 70s automatic Seiko - how did the Japanese come to call their watches Psycho, I never quite got to the bottom of that - and this one's got more aliases than Illya Kuryakin. It was advertised as a 4006-6060. The back cover claims it's a 4006-6070 which it ain't. The dial stoutly maintains it's a 4006-7060 (you need sharp eyesight to check, mind) and I'd not be surprised if the workings match that but I'm not putting money on it. I've given it a shake and it's still running which is a plus. Anyway, the forum is a 4006-experts site and I'm going to discover how near this thing came to Dr Frankenstein in its travels and where the other parts might be buried. Expert forums are good for that. The idea that all the nerds on the planet who know the fine detail of Seiko 4006 watches have a single gathering place pleases me.

It has a 12-hour alarm. I never had an automatic with an alarm before, it's quite exciting. Will it ring or will it go brrr?

I go to one other forum regularly, belong to quite a few. I am a lot more comfortable posting at the other place than I am here to be honest. I feel I can be more open and honest there and express my feelings and opinions while here I feel like if I state an opinion, it's just not worth the hassle I know could be coming. Sad, but true. :( On the other hand, FG is an addiction to me. I've been here since almost the beginning, and will probably be here until the end. All the other forums I belong to have not been as warm, friendly, or welcoming as the garden.

I've joined other forums for a variety of reasons but I always come back here, the first place I joined and the bestest.

I still go to Care2 sometimes and EA is my second home after FG. Sometimes it's my first home as well. WHen I try to go back to Care2, which was my first forum experience, I feel like a stranger because I take such long breaks in between. :( I need to get back over there.

Sometimes I get disgusted or annoyed at FG so I go elsewhere for a break but I always return.

A couple years ago I was a moderator at a spinoff forum from Care2 and it was nice except for the owner always griping about lack of participation from members and putting in requirements that we must post so many times a week or we'd get canned. I left that place and they still have no idea why.

Comfort Zone was like that too. No matter what members did, the owner was never satisfied enough with it. We grew weary of her complaints. Who needs forums like those two? It's supposed to be fun, not freaking school.

I joined a wolves forum that never really kicked off. Haven't been back.

I joined an all-women general forum which had a lot of potential if it weren't for such b*tchy, catty women being there. Left that one in a big hurry.

Here I am.

I've only belonged to one other forum called Free Republic. It's a site that is mostly political more geared to republicans, which I am. It just got so repetitive that I just got bored with it...so this is the only forum I'm on now and love it and the variety of topics. :-6

I belong to a few other forums but EA and FG are my two main homes at this present time....I agree with Peg, I feel more comfortable being silly and I can go off topic a bit more over at EA than here....they EXPECT that from me!! :wah::wah:

But, this is my home, first forum experience I've ever had...and I have made so many friends here that I don't think I could ever leave.....I don't post as much as I used to, but I check in to see what Jimbo and Nomad are up to if nothing else!....

I only post on 2 poetry forums, one a large one where you have to slowly carve a niche, the other is a local one where we really know each other from events.

Nothing is better than FG, it is like coming home, opening up the door, and there in the living room all your friends are waiting. Nomad is swinging from chandellier, Jester has a cold drink ready, Kathy is sitting by the window watching the ocean, and there' a slot machine in the corner taking our moola!:wah:

I'm a part of, and own and have owned a number of forums... I haven't ever really been that active at any one of them as some of you, however. Forum Garden does seem to be way out of the league of any mentioned thus far in this thread, though. I haven't seen any listed that truly compare to FG in any fashion, really. Mostly apples to oranges comparisons.

Some forums that I own and/or spend some amount of time at, however: FG, YH (Guppy's forum is probably the closest that I've seen listed in comparison to FG, but is merely what FG once was many years ago, in comparison.), FI, TT, CG, AR, FL, IF, CF, TI, GA, TD (those area few of the ones that I have started, and some of those with Koan, as well )

Most of the forums that I've been a big part of have been tech support forums mostly for coders, computers, cellphones, musicians, designers... where I've played the role of expert/staff. I've never really been much of a chit-chatter on forums such as this one, overall. As has been suggested quite a bit on here, that type of use is generally for folks that have very big IRL issues for whatever reason and spend much of their day online in order to remain social with the outside world in some capacity. I started out at the other end of the spectrum as I was mostly focused on helping others.

I've discovered that it is easy to get wrapped up on forums and their members, however... Eventually for everyone, no matter what initially was our attraction to forums, it's the members that we meet that keeps us here and why we return to keep in touch with all the wonderful folks on a forum such as this.

I didnt own a pc until 2001. I was depressed after losing my baby and hubs thought it would help as I was in college doing a business course.

My first Isp was Freeserve and I joined their Jackpotjoy site and made lots of friends and learnt about msn ect.

From that site I was invited to an msn group which did quizzes every night, boy that was fun. We took it in turns to host the quiz nights, we would invade I-sketch and have competitions in there. I met new peeps who invited me to new places and eventually became a forum whore. I have ended up being a mod on nearly every forum iv'e joined and been a regular poster at.

Currently im a mod at 4 forums, admin on one and a member on around 8 or 9 others that I dont use regular, such as the Lost tv series forums as its not back on tv til Jan 09.

I dont know why im so obsessed with the internet, its caused a few rows between me and hubs and I have cut down a little ( honest).

I have met some fabulous people and have a great laugh with them.

When you have small kids and dont have much of a social life, the net is a great substitute, infact some nights when the tears of laughter have been streaming down my face, id not swap it for a night in the club or pub.

I like FG, sometimes its too intense and I run off elsewhere for my fluff fix:D
