British Prime Minister has solved the Worlds Financial Crisis

Post by Oscar Namechange »

This Evening, Gordon Brown, the British Prime minister is being hailed as the mastermind behind solving the worlds economic crisis.

Plans that were put into action this morning have the government take control of the banks, freeing up spending and seeing Top Cat bank Chiefs sacked.

In an extrodinary move, the Prime Minister insisted that the deal would only go ahead if Bank Chiefs resigned Immediately.

15 European Countries are already poised to use Gordon Browns agreement and George Bush is expected to follow suit.

Countries un-willing to repay their debts such as Iceland are now forced into talks with Gordon Brown after finding he is not a man to be messed with.

Christies cancer hospital in Manchester has lost £7.5 mil after investing in a failed Icelandic bank.

Very sad indeed. :(

Okay Oscar, before we start handing out the medals lets wait and see if the British plan works out first, it will take a couple of weeks to be sure; but if the HM Treasury plan saves the British and wider European financial system then certainly all credit to the lad. ;)

Begod I won't, sure didn't our lad Brian Lenihan save the Irish banks 2 weeks ago, first they were all giving out, now they are doing the same thing themselves. I don't mind who comes up with the plan as long as it flippin works, thats my tuppence! :wah:

All is not lost with Iceland just yet. They threatened to go to Russia after Gordon Brown used anti-Terrorism laws to bankrupt them and cease trading. He did it amongst other things to stop any more local authorities and charities putting more money into dodgy Icelandic banks. They owe the world £35 billion and illegally refused to pay it back when things got tough.

I must admit, i was a little worried that Gordon Brown may have backed down with the threat of Iceland going to Russia who offered them more EU money.

It seems Gordon Brown steered the threat and now the Icelandic Government have offered to talk to Gordon Brown about an small intermediate re-payment of our money. It's a start as a few days ago, they were just refusing to pay anything.

Many hospitals have their money in Icelandic banks as well as my own charity, Cats Protection League.

With the agreement and package that Gordon Brown has put into practice today in the UK, it is highly likely that Iceland will want to rescue what little they have left rather than do business with Russia. If they take Gordon Browns terms on board along with many other countries, Britain may be able to salvage the money from them.

Don't give up yet. :-6:-6

Alot has happened with Iceland in a very short amount of time. It was only a few days ago that Iceland were threatening to accept money from Russia and refused to come to an agreement with Brown. I do believe he did the right thing and not baulk at the threat.

At least in a few days, Iceland has agreed re-payment proposals which is a bigger step forward than having them go it alone and we get nothing back. I think Brown knows, the Icelandic banks just don't have the capitol to pay it back and so is more likely to accept a proposal now than go for legal action that he has threatened to bring against Iceland to recover the money.

Brown did say on Wednesday that he will stand behind British Investors until he gets everything back.

There has been alot of contact with Brown say the Icelandic government which i think is promising.

I have absolutely no doubt that Gordon Brown would carry out his threat to recover the money through legal action. If that were the worst case scenario, it would take time but it's possible he would shore up with government money as he did today with the banks. If he did that, while the lengthy proceedure of legal action took it's course, British investors would be protected by government.

I too have monthly donations with cats protection league that has invested into Icelandic banks.

I am not cancelling my donations in panic just yet. I am giving it at least a couple of weeks to see what further developements there are with Brown and Iceland.

I'm wondering if any of our other British FG members have any other opinions than mine. Any offers??

Are you listening to Gordon Brown, Mr Bush?
