Do You Have Green Eyes Like Me?

I have green eyes ...

I've read that only about 1-2% of the population has green eyes. I mean truly green ...

I've wondered, what is the mechanism for causing green eyes?

It's interesting to me that green eyes are spread over several ethnic groups, whereas blue/brown eyes tend to be confined to certain demographics.

My specific question: Are green eyes a "mutation" of blue eyes themselves, where they have more or less pigment, or is it a separate mutation all together?

One of my daughters has green eyes, mine are like a light steel blue.

Yes, My dad and I both have green eyes. I think his dad had them.

My husband calls me angeleyes.

And where ever we go i get stared at & people are always making comments on how gorgeous my eyes are.

I have blue eyes but would love green,

I've thought of coloured contacts but contacts irritate me.

My eyes are aqua blue but hubby has green eyes. They seem to change color from light to dark green depending on the color shirt he wears.

I have two colors sometimes they are green and then they change to blue :-2

i knew a girl who had different colour eyes,,,,,,,,,,,1 brown and 2 green!

I have hazel-colored eyes...........I guess you could call them green.

I have read something on this before..originally people all had brown eyes..and then way back when...a mutation occurred and people started showing up with blues and greens..which are variations of the pigmentation in your eyes..it wasnt a random mutation because it would have been mutated out by domance of brown dna..whatever happened caused more and more blues and greens..

Light coloured eyes (green, blue, hazel, grey) are an adaptation most frequently found in people of North European ancestry.

Light coloured eyes are more sensitive to light, useful for hunter/gatherers coping in the low light of a northern latitude winter. Brown eyes are adept in the strong sunlight of lands nearer to the equator.

My ancestry is Scottish, and I have green eyes. My sister has dark brown eyes. It's all about the genes.

People with light colured eyes are more susceptible to cataracts.
